Re: How do you grade the pregame atmosphere this year?
Let the cheerleaders lead the cheers. Thats what they are there for. I think the fans would be more receptive to it than having a 40-something man doing it. It is inaudible - I was at the game today with my father-in-law and Dad an there turn to each other and said "I can't understand a word he is saying". I know he means well, but I would agree it is an embarassment to ISU. Leave the college atmosphere to the college students. We don't bring in some old fart in to run plays at quarterback to get the team going do we?

However, it's not Burnham's fault. We have no pass rush, DB's who can't handle a cut block (step on his throat, kid, and he won't do it again!) and aren't fast enough to jam their WR's without getting burned deep.
The only thing that upsets me is that we don't make SOME adjustment to cover the flats.
Hopefully better personnel will fix these issues.

I must not have recognized him with his pads and helmet on.

Hopefully better personnel will fix these issues. The defense cannot be on the field for 40 minutes a game and expect to win. The offense must do something other than 3 and outs to help out the defense.

Re: How do you grade the pregame atmosphere this year?
the good news is, we have two winnable games left on the schedule.
the bad news is, today we were outplayed in every aspect of the game, offense defense, special teams, coaching, stadium crowd, atmosphere..
can that all be corrected by next week?

can that all be corrected by next week? The answer to that question will be answered next Saturday at JTS.

Re: How do you grade the pregame atmosphere this year?
Jeff Johnson needs to go away bad. Today was freaking pathetic and embarrassing. He got the cyclone power chant rocking and then he changed which side said cyclone and which side said power. JUST LET IT GO! We had it going just fine, why freaking change.

It doesn't help the atmosphere when you can't hear the music or announcements due to the completely pathetic sound system.

1st drive: 7 plays, 41 yards (roughly 6 per play)
2nd drive: 7 plays, 25 yards (roughly 3 per play)
3rd drive: 14 plays, 98 yards (7 per play)
4th drive: 3 plays, 6 yards (2 per play)
5th drive: 4 plays, 26 yards (halftime) (roughly 7 per play)
6th drive: 10 plays, 80 yards (8 per play)
7th drive: 6 plays, 46 yards (roughly 8 per play)
8th drive: 3 plays, 1 yard (Not even a yard per play)
9th drive: 8 plays, 40 yards (5 per play)
10th drive: 6 plays, 79 yards (nearly 14 per play)
11th drive: 11 plays, 46 yards (over 4 per play)
You aren't going to win football games when your defense is giving up yards in chunks.

I'm willing to join the let go of Jeff in this role crowd. Sometimes it's been sort of OK, but today was just really bad by him. And as you said, this time we actually started to get going, so he goes for the change. If you're going to lead a cheer, let us get into it and yell.

Jeff is a great guy, and he is very good at smaller events like pep rallies at away\tourney games, but on the field before the game is not the place for him. It sucks all the hype out of the stadium.

Re: How do you grade the pregame atmosphere this year?
I'd also like to point out that Cyclone Aerobics doesn't seem to be catching on outside of the student section. Jeff Johnson seems like a great guy, but I still find myself cringing whenever I see him start walking out onto the field. Having Aerobics be part of this whole craptacular portion of the pregame just leaves me shaking my head.
The fans/atmosphere didn't lose the game for us today. But it didn't help the situation either.

Re: How do you grade the pregame atmosphere this year?
Although I think we should be able to come up with something better I have to give JJ credit for doing what he does including leading cheers in pregame. Obviously no one else has done it. What is our cheer squad doing?

Could we bring in Scott Casber (ISU wrestling) or John Larkins (ISU VB)? Someone who's not afraid to ramp it up a little...
Just someone who doesn't call Leonard Johnson , Jeremiah Schwartz. Or Sedrick Johnson, James Smith.
I can't believe that stuff still goes on in JTS.
