Stopping CU's offense

The key to winning IMO will be our ability to keep Rodney Stewart in check. The guy has rushed for over 100 yards in 4 games this year and they have one 3 of the 4 that he has hit over 100.

Im hoping that Markques Simas has not finally come to life. He's talented and had about 135 receiving last week.

Scotty McKnight killed us last year and is playing well again this year.


I really wish we had Benton this game to help put pressure on the QB by allowing us to blitz more successfully. Texas AM was able to get to the CU qb pretty well last week and if we dont... we are in trouble.

I agree, lets shut them down CU and MU and get to 7 wins. :biggrin:

Texas A&M gets to every team's QB. They have Von Miller. They are first in the Big 12 and 3rd nationally with 3.33 sacks/game. Us? We're 107th. Big difference. We won't get any heat on CU just like we haven't gotten any heat since Tuba was here.

Our defense obviously has to show up to play, but the key question, in my opinion, is how well our offense does. I think we need to put up at least 21-24 to win, and we need to get our fair share of time of possession.

The CU team of now reminds me nothing of the Cody Hawkins crap that was being played at the beginning of the season.

Simas scares me. Ive been waiting for that kid to blow up for them. Hopefully he had his career day last week.

Is CU's D bad enought that ISU can get some of it's offensive rhythm back against them?

They gave up 54 points to Toledo. Yes.

They are getting better. We have to come out ready to place from initial kick off.

They give up mid-field yards because they have to cover for lack of speed. We don't have the deep threat to attack their speed deficiency. I expect to see a lot of short routes to move the ball down the field.

They do play tough defense in the red zone. I'm hoping that AA's running ability can swing the red zone clashes in our favor.

Hopefully Austin's hand is better than last week. He wasn't much of a threat at all to run. If it's the same way this week, we're in trouble.

Austen not running was just a gigantic hinderance to our offense last week. They could key on A-Rob, and force us into tons of 2nd and long and 3rd and long type scenarios.

Being able to run our zone read is so huge to this offense. Everything flows from that point. Once that's going, the passing game heats up.
