Week 11:Iowa State vs Colorado | isportsweb
Thank you! Ive tried to get some football chatter going around here and its been tough sledding.
One of the most important ISU games of my lifetime.
Our offense will have to play it's best game of the year for us to win. Hopefully we have some skill players (besides AROB) step up and make some big plays
FOOTBALL?!?!?! NOT NOW GUYS! CAN'T YOU SEE WE'RE BUSY WITH HARRISON BARNES?!:jimlad:
The football game may be important but tomorrow could be the start of something even bigger for our basketball team.
One could argue that the football game tomorrow is a bigger event and could have a longer lasting effect on the athletic department long term
W win tomorrow equals bowl eligibility and momentum going into Mizzou and the possibility of a better bowl. Any bowl equals $$$$$ for the athletic department and marketing. The extra practice time alone is key considering the tough schedule we have next year. Throw in the momentum we can get for recruiting and tomorrow's game is crucial. Looking at the schedule the next two years and we will need momentum to go bowling. So this could be our only chance to go bowling in the next three years. Go bowling this year and the engine that drives the Athletic Department is strong for years to come.
Barnes could be one and done having an impact on the MBB similar to Beasely and KSU
What did Colorado do to A&M that we were absolutely unequipped for? or did they just catch them at the right time. I'm not going to lie, that has me nervous. It seems like they can step up and turn it on at times (A&M/KU) or completely crap the bed (Mizzou/KSU/Toledo??). What's the deal?
I agree with ajk and taz. This is absolutely one of the most important games since that awful day at KU in 2005.
I think we need a combination of a solid run game controlling the clock and some new found Cyclone luck on turnovers here and there. I won't be watching but hopefully I'll be listening somewhere! (anybody with radio streaming sites want to PM me? thanks-)
I agree ball control in this game is crucial. By that I mean time of possesion and score. A&M had CU in the first half, but lost time of possesion and field possition. That and some pretty spectacular(lucky) plays allowed CU back into the game. Not to mention some pretty awful ball control by A&M in the last quarter to give up the ball.
When Colorado does turn it on it's with there passing game, which doesn't bode well for us. I hope our running game gets going again tomorrow. We may fall behind early, but we need to stick to running the ball, I don't care if it's only 3 yards per carry, thats a first down everytime(well you get what im saying). Once we get into situations where Arnaud has to pass, is usually when we start to see the offense struggle. On D we just need to contain everything. We started well against OSU, considering we held them to FG's the first 2 drives. We NEED to have some long drives of our own to win this game.
The biggest thing we need in this game to happen is to have our old offense show up. We didn't have many scoring opportunities against NU or OSU but we sure left a lot of points on the field at A&M. I am hoping that last week's result was just rust on our end and a stronger-than-expected look from OSU.
Our D can hold their own when they don't have to play the entire game. We need the offense to give them some help for a change.
I know CU is bad, but they can turn it on at times, and the fact that they have lost 11 straight conference games on the road actually scares me, as ISU has a habit of being friendly to other schools' negative streaks.
Clones 24, Buffs 17
This game is big for a lot of reasons. We don't want to have to rely on a win at MU to get to a bowl. We do not want to go to Columbia on a 3 game losing streak. Lastly, its Sr day. If there was ever a class that deserved our support, its this one. They survied the Chizzle era and are coming out winners!!!:notworthy:
