Re: Bowl Payouts
I still don't get why Cyclone fans wouldn't want to be in the Big Ten. There are so many reasons to want to be in that conference. Our natural rival is in that conference, there is more money involved, and the conference has more television sets as well. No one in the Big 12 considers us a rival anyway, and they can schedule non-conference games with us in any sport if they wish to continue playing the Cyclones. A lot of the reason people have this sentiment is because, "Iowa's there," well, Iowa being there is making them richer and richer, while Iowa State being in the Big 12 is keeping them towards the bottom. It is always said that all Iowa State needs is a coach like Hayden Fry who changes the culture, but with the conference we are in, we can only grow about half as much as the Hawkeyes did in the 1980s because of the very strong Southern influence on Big 12 policy making. A winning coach (Paul Rhoads) and a change of scenery (Big Ten) is exactly what Iowa State needs.

Re: Bowl Payouts
Fact of it is, even if ISU fans wanted to go big 10, the big 10 doesnt want us. We bring nothing to the table for them. No additional tv audience, no tradition as a power football school.

"The schools that earn the most money are the ones who appear for football TV games and basketball nonconference games."
NOW we know why we have no coverage hardly

NOW we know why we have no coverage hardly We can't earn more money unless we're on TV.
We can't get on TV until we're more competitive.
We can't be more competitive unless we earn more money.
What a wonderful Catch-22.

and we do this by playing mediocre teams or worse in bowl games reason I want the INDY bowl game instead of Houston. I believe in getting the team to move up not flatline

Re: Bowl Payouts
Under the expense formula, we would actually be paid slightly more from the conference going to houston, since the distance is slightly farther. (our expenses might be slightly higher as well, but interesting to note)
