BUT I think that would be a good matchup for us ... our lack of pass rush would not be a factor and I don't think they would overwhelm us with speed ... granted, there would be other challenges to playing Navy, but I would welcome that game compared to some other possibilities
I look at it the same way. Wally has seen enough option football in his day to have our defense in the right position to make a play. At worst, it would be a pickem.
Check out this info from Jeff Sagarin. It's used by the BCS, and provides some insight. So according to this info, Navy would be an 8 pt favorite on a neutral field, an 11 pt fav at home and a 5 pt fav against ISU at JTS.
I would fully expect almost any team in a bowl to be favored over us, with only a couple exceptions. That doesn't mean I think it would be by a large margin or that we couldn't beat a lot of the teams if we learned how to play offense, just what the perception would be by outsiders - and rightfully so.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.
