I think a more important question is what do the players and RECRUITS think.
I see this as only a positive that our fans are this excited about our team, coaches and season.

Don't lose sight of the fact it was the last home game of the year and Senior Day as well. Nothing wrong with fans wanting to pat the seniors on the back and thank them for their 4-5 years of effort.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

Matt of M&M on 1460 bashed ISU fans big tonight for going onto the field. He and "Fails" can **** off. This was the last game our Seniors will play in the Jack. They became bowl eligible. They won their sixth game in a season nobody expected even five wins. They've (seniors) played for three coaches in four years. Many of the students that emptied the stands have never been to a bowl and are excited about a winning season and victory for the Seniors who had just played their last home game.

Re: Fales just said we make a habit of storming the field...
I watched Sound Off for the first and last time when they kept showing ISU football flub ups during various transition segments of the show . . . while heaping all kinds of ridiculous praise on their beloved hawks. This show is a lighweight wanna be -
Re: Fales just said we make a habit of storming the field...
Funny how times change, when I was in school - (Walden Last Year, Mac first 4 years) - we tore the goal posts down almost every win and carted them down to lake luverne - all 2,000 of us (or so). At first the administration was excited the students were into the game and we even had police escorts the first couple times, after a while - they must have gotten tired of paying for the posts and got the indestructable ones and then they put the Ames PD in front of the Student Section in big numbers - I never wanted any part of that but others still went out there. The act like we've been there before argument is lame, go the game, have fun, tear down the goal posts, do whatever - we haven't won enough games at ISU to say anything other than enjoy the moments of success cause you never know when the next moment will be. Hopefully CPR will change that but right now - I say screw Fales and anyone else that wants to judge the enthusiasm for the Coach and His players.

Why wouldn't we rush the field after becoming bowl eligible for the first time in 4 years?

Re: Fales just said we make a habit of storming the field...
I was quite shocked the field got rushed. Really didn't expect it at all and part of me questioned it, but I agree this team deserved it on Senior day.

This is why the old saying goes "act like you've been there before". Clearly, we won't be passing out any Oscars to the student section.

The fact that we have students showing support for an average team that has had 3 coaches in four years and also had double digit losses last year is an amazing feat in itself. Let them celebrate.

I've got a fabulous idea. Let's all send him the video of Iowa rushing the field against unranked Michigan half way through the season.

Fixed, and I'm going to assume that the majority of folks rushing the field at Trice last weekend were students as well.

Re: Fales just said we make a habit of storming the field...
The more i think about it, the more it seems like a non issue to me. What's wrong with a little celebration? Why does it have to be a huge top 5 win. What if a school\fanbase decides that every game the crowd is 'invited' to share in the victory with the team on the field?

Re: Fales just said we make a habit of storming the field...
Jeez... Murphy just said on the news "Cyclone fans storm the field." Is it REALLY that big of a deal??? They act like we committed murder and got away with it! Getting tired of the local media keep bringing this up! Jon and Deace were the only ones cool with it today.
