Re: New Depth Chart 11-16
Question for the board:
Since Mahoney and Guyer are in the same class (Soph), would it be a good idea to redshirt Guyer if we have a decent backup next year? Has Guyer played so far this season?
Point being, I would like to have a veteran kicker lined up after Mahoney graduates.
Thanks!

Good question. I remember that Guyer played last year, but can't recall if he has played this year. So, I suppose this could be a redshirt year to separate the two if Guyer is interested in staying five years.

There's a gap at backup MLB, I believe Matt Taufoou has been lodged in that slot lately? Hurt, maybe?
By quick count, 33 of the top 44 on offense and defense return. Guess I thought the number of seniors might have been more.

Can anyone who has access to the game participation records confirm if Guyer has any PT this year or not?
Thanks!

Guyer has had no playing time this year. He will be redshirting along with bykowski.

Are they planning on moving Bykowski to tackle? He seems to have the frame that Rhoads is looking for in Offensive linemen.

Excellent, that is just what I wanted to hear. I am glad that he will be around at least for one year after Mahoney graduates. Let's keep recruiting kickers so we don't have the same problems DMac had with them.
Re: New Depth Chart 11-16
Anyone heard anything on Benton? Also I was watching the PR show last night and they mentioned Alvarez missed some time against Colorado, I did not notice him out of the lineup, any news on his siturtion?

Does Bykowski run well enough to play DE? I think you rOL projection makes more sense, but just wondering given our lack of DE depth.
Re: New Depth Chart 11-16
I wonder how Guyer does in practice...somehow redshirting a kicker vs. getting another recruit seems questionable to me.

Should be back for the bowl game, assuming we make one, last i heard.
Re: New Depth Chart 11-16
PR spoke about him a bit in the pregame on Saturday, and he thought he could see playing time this week against MU.

Not a rip on Guyer because we don't know what he can do but right now he isn't beating out Mahoney who has struggled. If he can't beat out a struggling Mahoney, do we want to keep him on the roster vs getting a new recruit that may just be better? We should be recruiting over everyone int he program and that includes kickers.
FWIW- just about every Sunday you can find a team that struggles with the kicking game. It isn't just ISU.

Mahoney hasn't been that bad. He had a couple bad games and was awful in the Kansas game. Otherwise....best kicker we have had in a while. Just can't let the guys get so much pressure up the middle
