Jerry Palm on Matt & Miller
Very, very interesting interview with Jerry Palm from collegebcs.com on Matt & Miller just now. He said that the Fiesta Bowl will DEFINITELY take Oklahoma State if they are eligible, basically to maintain the business relationship with the Big 12. That would be great for Iowa State as it would move us up a slot in the bowl order. We need to be become huge OSU fans.
He also said the BCS will DEFINITELY take 2 Big 10 teams as long as they are eligible. He thought Penn State would be selected over Iowa because of TV ratings although he said it may be 50/50.
He said the BCS bowls HATE the mid-majors and Big East teams.
All in all, it was a great interview. Maybe they could podcast it, its a must listen for college football fans.

Isn't iowa holding out for a Fiesta bid?

OSU has to play OU in Norman on Senior Day. I think OSU is the better team, but I would give OU the advantage.
If ISU wins this weekend, OSU goes to the BCS, and Texas goes to the NC, ISU could possibly land the Sun Bowl.

Thanks CW.
It takes two to play the game - who's the other half of the OSU/PSU/iowa mix?

Re: Jerry Palm on Matt & Miller
I would love for Boise State or TCU to go down, and have Ok. State beat OU and Iowa beat Minnesota. Than Iowa could potentially match-up with Ok. State in the Fiesta. That would be a great match-up.

If they both win out, I could see a scenario similar to last year when Iowa was picked for the Outback Bowl over Northwestern, even though Northwestern beat them earlier in the season. This year, Penn State could get picked based on the numbers game, even though Iowa won head to head. But that said, it's not like Iowa wouldn't be a good choice. I'm guessing they'd have 40-50K fans if they were picked for the Fiesta or another BCS bowl.
Still, even if Penn State was picked, the Capital One Bowl isn't too shabby.

Sorry, OSU meaning Okie State.
He said the if Okie State wins - the Fiesta takes them implying leaving PSU and iowa out. What you say makes sense regarding PSU and iowa.
I'm asking who's the team they'd play? More specifically, why couldn't we see a Okie St/iowa pairing (provided both win out)

Re: Jerry Palm on Matt & Miller
BCS Championship: BCS No. 1 vs. BCS No. 2 Orange: ACC champ vs. BCS at-large Fiesta: BCS at-large vs. BCS at-large Sugar: BCS at-large vs. Big East champ Rose: Ohio State (Big Ten champ) vs. Pac-10 champ
If we go with the most likely outcome of TX v either Florida or Alabama then that means the Sugar bowl will have the #1 pick of the At Large teams and the Fiesta will have the #2 pick. The Sugar will pick the other SEC team and the Fiesta will have its first choice of the remaining big schools that qualify.
If TCU and Boise win out as expected they will most likely be picked last due to TV ratings. Meaning the Fiesta bowl will basically get to choose from Iowa/PSU or OkSt. -

I'm asking who's the team they'd play? Probably Boise St. as they are the least attractive at large team (from the bowls perspective, not mine) and if I am reading the rules correctly the Fiest would have the last choice.
