I don't think a 6 win team can be chosen until all 7+ (eligible) win teams are picked. I know Big 10 does it that way -- haven't found an official link for Big 12 rules yet.

That rule is part of the bowl selection process, when the bowls pick who they want in their game, the conference has nothing to do with it at that point.Quote:
