Insight bowl in arizona question
So what are the chances of us making this bowl? My brother and Dad are both University of Iowa graduates, my dad from the dental school and my brother undergrad and is starting law school at Iowa and more then likely Iowa will be headed to the fiesta bowl in Arizona so if ISU makes the insight then our family will be going because my dad and myself are huge cyclone fans, my dad went to ISU for undergrad, and so if isu and iowa were in the same area for bowl games we'll be going to both. So what are the chances? Id love to go to arizona during the winter and watch a ISU victory!

A few things will need to happen, but if we can beat Mizzou I can see it happening.

Re: Insight bowl in arizona question
The chances of either team being in AZ are small IMO.

Re: Insight bowl in arizona question
I think there is no question that we have to beat Missouri. If that doesn't happen we aren't going, but if we do I think there is a good chance their bowl committee would select us.

Have to beat mizzou. Then it is a good shot.
No way Iowa goes to Fiesta.

Personally I would like to go to the Sun if we have a shot.

Re: Insight bowl in arizona question
We are rooting for K-State, KU, OU and A&M to lose.
If the above happens...we win and OSU goes to the fiesta then Insight would be worst case IMO. That is a lot of things that need to happen.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -
Re: Insight bowl in arizona question
I will be shocked if Iowa heads to AZ.

if we beat mizzou i could see us in the insight.

Re: Insight bowl in arizona question
Insight is a longshot. I almost hope the Big XII can't fill all of their bowl tie-ins and we end up with a shot at one of the at-large bowls.
Iowa is going to Orlando. They just don't know it yet.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. Isu would need to beat Missouri and IMO I think okie state would need to lose. There is a decent chance that the Fiesta would take another Big 12 team to replace Texas to offset the Cotton Bowl pushing for entry in the BCS.

Iowa is going to Orlando. They just don't know it yet. So you would rather go to Detroit, Mobile, Albuquerque, or Boisie and play a second rate team instead of playing in Houston, Shreveport, Phoenix, or El Paso and play a bcs conference team?

Let's be realistic -- we aren't going to the Sun Bowl no matter what, when they will have the option to pick an in-state team.
The best-case scenario is this:
Nat'l Championship Game - Texas
Fiesta - Oklahoma State
Cotton - Nebraska
Holiday - Oklahoma
Alamo - Missouri
Sun - Texas Technical
Insight - Iowa State
Independence - Texas A&M
Texas - no selection
If Oklahoma beats Oklahoma State then no Fiesta Bowl, and everyone moves down one....and if that happens we're looking at Shreveport or Houston (vs. a non-BCS school by the way). Those are better than Detroit or Boise, but not necessarily better than Washington or Albuquerque, or whatever other deal we might get.

If someone told you Iowa will be going to the Fiesta Bowl you might want to send them this link. Drug Test - 6 Panel Test | Walgreens
With that said I am hopeful that we can make it into the Insight. Beating MIZERY this weekend would be a good step in that direction.
