Football - 2010 Schedule
A reasonable person could argue that playing Texas and Oklahoma on the road next year is a good thing.....at least it leaves open winable home games. Next year we'll have a real shot at winning every home game (7 of them) plus a chance of staying in the road games at Colorado, Iowa and Kansas State (in Kansas City). Re: Football - 2010 Schedule
With the attitude that Rhoads is instilling, I think the home/road thing won't make a huge difference on the teams that we match up well with in terms of talent. I think the next two years' schedules ARE a good thing. But I'm not a reasonable person. -
Re: Football - 2010 Schedule
I can see that happening. I guess people automatically assume we are going to lose to Texas and OU so why not play them on the road anyway :) That being said....I hope we are to a point were we compete with the big guys from now on.
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

Re: Football - 2010 Schedule
I think we will go 9-3 with losses to Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas but all the games will be close

Re: Football - 2010 Schedule
The good thing about next year's schedule is I think this is the best shot that we have EVER had to knock off Texas and Oklahoma... I almost wish Bradford would have been healthy all year so both teams would be breaking in brand new QB's.

Re: Football - 2010 Schedule
I have my reservations about Utah... I haven't seen them play, and their losses are to "Who's who" teams and their wins are to "Who's that?" teams, so there's really nothing for me to go off of beyond the fact that they're ranked.

You guys are killing me with these predictions. We're looking at a 4-5 win season next year.

KU (with a new coach?) and Mizzou at home aren't that tough. CU on the road (with a new coach) is winnable. UNI is a win. Northern IL is a win. KSU in KC is winnable. Nebraska at home is winnable. Utah isn't an unbeatable team. Iowa on the road may not be likely, but it's possible.
I could easily see them at 6-6 or even 7-5.

I could easily see them at 6-6 or even 7-5. I could see 6-6 and maybe 7-5, but there is very little margin for error. Northern Illinois to start the season isn't a guaranteed win. They return about 17 starters from a team that's going to a bowl. They're going to be one of the favorites in the MAC. UNI plays us tough a lot but that should be a win. Utah loses a lot of players especially on defense so that game will probably be a shootout. Iowa on the road is one of the toughest games we play, especially if Clayborn comes back.
In conference, Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech are almost guaranteed losses. Missouri and Nebraska are going to be the favorites in the North, but we play both at home so hopefully we can beat one of them. Kansas, Colorado, and Kansas State are almost must-wins. Six or seven wins is possible, but I think five is more likely. I expect the offense to be much better next year, but the defense will need to become a decent unit very quickly. That first game against Northern Illinois will be VERY critical.

OU will be breaking in a new QB and trying to revamp their defense. OU is beatable next season. Originally Posted by Sloup I have my reservations about Utah... Utah loses half of their 2 deep if I remember correctly. ISU wins by 10 at home over Utah next season. Between Northern Illinois and Utah, I think Northern Illinois is the tougher game.

Re: Football - 2010 Schedule
It all depends on Iowa State.
If our offense can really get it going, I think we could win 7 or 8 games. Otherwise we are looking at 4 or 5 wins.
I wish we could keep Frere and Lyle, I like our D-Line play this year.

Re: Football - 2010 Schedule
I could see 7-5 next year pretty easily, but the year after I struggle to find a 6th win. Of course this is a way to early prediction!
