I agree if we get that 2nd BCS team in the mix. Otherwise looking like Shreveport.

Would we really? Awesome. I just assumed that because A&M seems to have a larger fanbase and is geographically closer to all these places, that we'd be behind them...

Re: Tim Griffin Says Insight Bowl
A&M would be ahead of us. But the Texas bowl would want them for the game for a large crowd against Navy.

Re: Tim Griffin Says Insight Bowl
My only concern...who has the NFL Network? I really would like this one on ESPN. I really hope something changes for next season because this constant fighting to actually SEE games in some way, shape, or form is getting ridiculous!
Other than that...I'm fine with the Insight Bowl!! -
Re: Tim Griffin Says Insight Bowl
I think the Insight picks us over A&M because we travelled well to Phoenix before and there are a ton of Iowans in Arizona. But I think the Independence & Texas Bowls would pick A&M over us because of proximity. We have a lot riding on two games -- Oklahoma State beating Oklahoma to go to the Fiesta Bowl moves everyone up a spot, and Missouri beating Kansas keeps them out of the bowl picture. Best-case scenario is Oklahoma State winning & Missouri winning which could send us to Phoenix. Worst-case scenario is Oklahoma & Kansas winning which could send us to Detroit.
Nebraska beating Texas would also give the Big XII two BCS bowl teams and move everyone up a spot.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -
Re: Tim Griffin Says Insight Bowl
Someone said this earlier, but I will be a little bit worried about the Big 12's bowl record if that is the case. Obviously I want OSU to win and go to the BCS, but if they didn't, everyone would slip down a notch and the Big 12 would probably win a few more games.

Re: Tim Griffin Says Insight Bowl
Now, wouldn't the Texas Bowl want people to come and spend 2-3 days, not just make a day trip like A&M likely would?

If I am not mistaken, the bowl committee probably only cares about ticket sales. They could probably care less about the local community. I am sure the community depends on the bowl more then the bowl does on the city.

Re: Tim Griffin Says Insight Bowl
Texas Bowl wouldn't pick us ahead of any Texas school.
I'm a little concerned about the Insight Bowl. It's one of those bowls that nobody cares about because nobody watches the NFL Network for a bowl game. I remember missing last years game because I forgot to look there for a game.

If they go to the there, they could theoretically play USC. You have to imagine the Sun Bowl, the viewers, AND the city of El Paso salivating over that matchup...any other year, that's a BCS-quality game.

Re: Tim Griffin Says Insight Bowl
NFL Network is a pain. Only on when the local company pays for it and some have decided not to. Looking for an ESPN game I can watch from home.
