Big 12 Bowl Analysis: Part II (Updated) | Upon Further Review

Mostly talking about all the bowls for the Big XII. Interesting because they predict that even if KU beats Missouri this weekend, they don't think KU gets an invitation because of how they have finished and the Mangino situation.

they have OK. St. going to the Cotton and they also have their record at 6-5.

I think that is a typo. They have OSU and OU's records correct in the table above, but messed up in the bowl table.

I guess they don't predict OSU getting Fiesta, so either losing to OU or not getting picked.

I don't mind Indy, but think Arkansas would beat us soundly. Prefer to play SC, Tenn, or Georgia.

Our best match-up by far for the Indy would be SC. Anyone who saw the bowl vs. Iowa last season knows that the Ole Ball Coach doesn't care about bowls that are "beneath him". I would honestly expect a win vs. SC but not vs. any other SEC team.

That said, I would love to meet the B10 in the Insight. ISU/Minn in the Insight would be awesome, imo.

I would tend to agree that with 9 eligible teams and 8 slots to fill that KU would be the odd man out. What bowl would want to select that mess right now?

Kansas is a team in freefall right now while ISU is a feel good story. I know most people outside of Big 12 country don't see it, but selection committees with annual conference affiliations should be well aware. Do you want a team that sees your bowl as a disppointing step down after a few successful seasons, or a team that has been down and sees any bowl invitation this year as a milestone?

I realize that sounds like a homer trying to rationalize a bowl selection (which is exactly what it is), but the selection committees are going to pick the team that brings in the most money for their bowl. Right now it's a much safer bet to hitch their wagon to CPR than Mangino (though admittedly the yokes would fit Mangino better).

I doubt there is anyway Ok State gets selected by the fiesta bowl over Iowa or Penn State as they do not travel well... But In the off chance they do, we would match up well against the Gophers.
