why don't we play iowa this weekend??
I would be a supporter of moving the game to thanksgiving weekend. It would be nice to move all the other non conference games up and have a bye before we start the conference games.

The only thing I like about this is that we would NEVER have to deal with that embarassing post-Thanksgiving attendance that never happens at other schools.

Weather. I'd much rather play when the weather is nice and we can enjoy the game. Having it this weekend would run a high risk of it being cold.
Also students are gone.

Because playing it now would guarantee the Jack is half empty. Less money. There's the biggest issue.

The students being gone would make this pretty rough.

They'll come back for this game. For some reason it seems that every single other school that plays football games this weekend can fill it up. However, I think the biggest reason is that there are a lot of family thanksgivings today, and Iowans are a lot less likely to eschew family obligations for a football game than others.
That said, I still think that this game would change that, just due to the incredibly high level of interest state wide.

The ISU Iowa game would always have great attendance no matter when it was played.

The students would come back for a rivalry game.

Re: why don't we play iowa this weekend??
The only argument I can see here is weather. I think the Jack would be sold out no matter what the weather is, just might take away from some peoples tailgate experience. I think the students would come back. They have been off all week, they can come back a day early for the game.

Re: why don't we play iowa this weekend??
Attendance was fine back in 01. I was a freshman and came home early to go to the game. Like the others have noted, I don't think attendance would be an issue.

No guarantee of TV, and certainly nothing "better" than FSN.

Re: why don't we play iowa this weekend??
I would love it if they moved it back to Thanksgiving weekend. Like others have said, attendance would never be a problem for the ISU-Iowa game, I know I would come back for it.

You'd get all the serious students that want to see it, but you wouldn't get the people that go just because their friends are. You'd have to sell the upper deck student seats.
