Guess I suggest you just reread my post. Never said that A&M wouldn't be the better pick, but that the Big 12 conference might try and talk Indy into taking ISU so that Texas Bowl can have the huge A&M crowd. Otherwise, Texas Bowl is looking at a terrible ticket situation. The conference will think about that. Indy Bowl is not autonomous. They will make their selection in consultation with the Big 12 and SEC conference offices.

I'm just saying it is not unreasonable for Griffin to predict ISU in Indy. There are reasons it makes sense for the conference as a whole.

There is no reason for the Independence Bowl to do this -- A&M is 4 hours from Shreveport and will bring a lot more fans than ISU, and also has a much larger alumni base and will draw better TV ratings. The Independence Bowl pays more money than the Texas Bowl, and as a result, they get to pick a Big 12 team before the Texas Bowl. They don't spend that money to help the Texas Bowl sell tickets.

And it would be unconscionable for the Big 12 conference to do anything like this. The Independence Bowl pays $350,000 more than the Texas Bowl -- it's not the conference's job to take that money away from Texas A&M.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.
