Postseason play is not based on conference records. If it was, K-State would be playing in a bowl. I don't know how many times it has to be said before it finally sinks in...

Alright ....
I agree that Mr Beebe should've shut his trap in this morning's KC Star piece. And that it shows an amount of favoritism by the conference.
But I think you guys are putting too much into this piece. If KSU were eligible, we'd be on the outside of 8 ties, and a conference with 9 eligible teams. And a better draw of ISU at 6-6 for an at large bowl might get left at home (by NCAA rules) over a 7-5 mid-major who'd take 5000 people to a bowl.
This one works in our favor - almost always. The two aren't all that comparable.

Current rules state 6-6 automatically stays at home inlieu of 7-5, regardless of draw.
This proposal takes that away.
One issue is about getting our teams in OTHER bowls, today's is about the order of the Big XII affliated bowls.

EDIT: dan@big12sports.com
I was referring more to actually pointing out the hypocrisy that he's not worried about a 7-5 Oklahoma and potentially a 6-6 TAMU getting picked over Mizzou as well.

we also need to be sending emails to the Insight Bowl if we seriously want this to happen, it should help, but also keep up the emails to JP and the *******

Re: Big 12 commissioner worried Insight will pass on Missouri
JP should be doing 3 things:
Sending the Insight execs clips of all the ISU fans at the game in '00.
Taking Jim Delany out to dinner
Flipping Don Beebe the bird as we move to the Big 10 in time for the 2010 FB season, leaving the Big 12 scrambling (I know this wouldn't happen, but it would be sweet).

One is about rules, one is about "deserving".
How many times have we had mid-majors undefeated or same records as the BCS championship teams. (heck - the championship team might have had WORSE records). Why were they there? Percieved worthiness over a mid major despite the record.
He's not saying a 6-6 team should go, just to be put up for equal consideration. IE - trying to get more teams eligible.
Today he was saying the should go. (and again, I think she should be drawn and quartered for it)

One issue is that of bowl eligibility, which is defined by the NCAA. K-State is not playing in a bowl because of a general NCAA regulation preventing them from participating in post season play.
The second, and completely separate issue, is that of which teams go to what bowls within a conference. There are no NCAA rules that I am aware of regulating or defining how the non-BCS bowls choose teams from the conferences with which they have agreements. Conference and bowls are free to decide those criteria.
Just because KSU is eliminated by their overall record due to NCAA regulation doesn't mean that conference record might not be considered when it comes to a bowl choosing who they want. Yes, in this case, it appears that nobody really wants Missouri, probably based on poor fan support.
