But I think that if you want to do something about it, as the league, you need to do it behind closed doors. Not publicly. But imagine the roles are reversed and all this is done behind closed doors, and a lesser team gets selected over a better ISU team. This board would be livid with people saying the conference did nothing to support ISU and you know it, even if they had been fighting for us all the while.

That was my entire point.

Re: My Thoughts on Beebe's Comments
I see nothing wrong with a conference commissioner trying to protect the integrity of the conference standings.

If you admit that it's not anti-ISU, and you admit that in a similar situation ISU would be livid if we felt the conference wasn't fighting for us, wasn't this the right move?

These are the rules the Big 12 signed up for with the bowls. Beebe should not be coming out and picking favorites at this time. You can take it to the bank that he'd be utterly silent on a big name south school getting to move up.
Conf standings mean zilch to bowl selections as it is currently.
Would we be upset if roles reversed...of course. But there still wouldn't be jack we could do about it.

If you do it behind closed doors then you eliminate another school (ISU in this case) from playing the card that a lot of us are playing right now.
It's a PR deal.
Protect the integrity of the standings by making a rule about an order in which the bowls have to select teams like other conferences have. That's a pretty simple solution to me.

No one has trashed their fans(all 3k that would travel to game) for being upset. We are upset that the commish of the Big 12 is once again showing favortism to a school not named ISU.
I actually don't think if the shoe was on the other foot I would want him lobbying for us. It's not his place.

There is no "passed over" after the BCS selections. You win six games and you are eligible for any Big 12 bowl.

Re: My Thoughts on Beebe's Comments
Behind closed doors or not...fact of the matter is I don't trust Beebe to run this conference fairly and successfully. He made a bad move by saying this in public. Unprofessional, and we see what he is like behind closed doors as well.
Down with Beebe...Freedom from tyranny!

This. End of story.

And as far as I know there isn't anything that would suggest that he wouldn't say the same thing about us is there? Letting bowls select teams with less wins over teams with more wins kind of sours the whole thing in my opinion. Even though the bowl system already sucks. We'd want him to say the same for us, but the precedent simply isn't there. Remember the blatant holding call (more like a Mizzou O-lineman practically tackling our D-lineman by the jersey) that the Big 12 commish (I think it was Bebee) was convinced was a blown call and felt like he just HAD to apologize to Mizzou fans everywhere? Yeah, I don't have the upmost confidence in our commish riding in to save us in our moment in need. For instance, just for conjecture, say the MBB team wins 24 games this year and is squarely on the bubble- let's see what Bebee has to say then.
