If Beebe and the rest of the Big 12 don't like this....well then change it.
No ,it is not bad. Non BCS bowls select the teams that will travel the best and make them the most money for that game. Period end of story. So no complaining when we are on the short end -

Re: My Thoughts on Beebe's Comments
Most of the ISU fans realize that Missouri should be picked before Iowa State. But it is the decision of the bowl games to choose who they want. Missouri fans do have something to complain about but on the other hand Commissioner Beebe does not. He represents the conference as a whole and not specific teams. ISU fans are not upset that Missouri may be picked before Iowa State, ISU fans are mad about the unprofessional remarks made from the big 12 commissioner about the Insight bowl possibly picking Iowa State.

In the end, I think this whole thing will play in our favor --------- if we do get in this situation in the future ---- JP will be all over the "what is good for the goose is good for the gander" -- i love it actually, great political capital. Beebe screwed up and he knows it.

Exactly.

Re: My Thoughts on Beebe's Comments
Ironically, the Mizzoo fans may feel like "sister kissers" being the second choice for the Insight bowl and stay away in droves.
Wouldn't that make Beebe look good! All truisms are false. All of them. -

"Poor MU...you had to go crying to Papa Beebe to get you and your pathetically poor traveling fans into a better bowl."

Re: My Thoughts on Beebe's Comments
I wonder if the bowl games would adjust the payouts if they did not have the right to choose the teams? Insight payout is $1.2M. Texas is $750K. As a result the Insight gets to pick first. If I run a bowl game, I am going to maximize my return. If you don't understand that you should have attended your Econ course rather than hitting Veenker early. If I don't get to choose, I am going to reduce my guaranteed money because I am assuming more risk. I.e., putting my return more in the hands of someone else.
The NCAA does not underwrite for the bowls. The conferences do not underwrite the bowls. They are independent entities with contracts with the NCAA and conferences.

That is a very insanely optimistic view if you think this earned us anything at all (this coming from me, an optimist). It probably hurt more than anything. Beebe should never do this again, and I would bet there are a lot of people telling him that right now. This will not be repeated...especially in Iowa State's favor.

But I think that if you want to do something about it, as the league, you need to do it behind closed doors. Not publicly. Here is the problem that Beebe has created, whether he likes it or not:
If ISU is picked, Missouri will be up in arms because the Big 12 commissioner cannot fulfill his promise to them and their fan base will be even more bitter than we are now
If Missouri is picked, ISU will feel that it was because of Beebe's comments, whether he has any say in the matter or not, and our fanbase will be up in arms.
If Beebe would have kept his mouth shut nobody would have felt scorned, but now he will feel the wrath of at least 1 school's fanbase - not a very smart move on his part and begs the question if he can be in charge of a major conference.

But what has most of us angry is that it isn't Dan Beebe's place to determine the order and he is knocking a bowl because they might chose one of his teams over another? Record makes no difference in this, he should have kept his mouth shut in regards to this. If it truly bothered him, work on changing the rules so it doesn't happen next time, don't criticize the bowl.
This is like picking teams when you were younger and have the Principle come by and say to everyone: "I can't believe you picked Billy before Bob". It isn't appropriate.
Keep in mind that this is still speculative. He is bashing a bowl because they are considering a team, there is no decision yet. Going back to the above example, it would be like a principle saying "I can't believe you are even considering taking Billy before Bob".
