november home attendance is not comparable to a bowl game. the insight bowl would be warm and it is a nice venue. ames iowa is neither in november. plus there is the added excitement of a bowl game as opposed to a regular season game.
playing k-state is not comparable for the same reason

Re: Latest from Insight (Tony Alba)
[QUOTE=LoyalSonForever;1395424]This. I have relatives in the Phoenix area (free place to stay!) that went to a bar to watch the ISU/IA game and they told me it was packed with fans of both teams. This will be the key factor in why we ARE chosen for the Insight Bowl. (I hope, I hope, I hope......)
Let's not kid ourselves. Do we not think people from Missouri live in Arizona? When I lived in Phx in the mid to late 90's, one of my friends down there was an ex-Mizzouri football player. They have a large following down there too (as do the rest of the Big 12 North teams). I've been to plenty of ISU alumni functions in Phx and they were o.k....nothing spectacular in my opinion. Now the bowl game back in '99, that was a whole different story. My take is that the Insight is using us to try and incite (nice play on words huh?) the Mizzou fan base so they take this bowl seriously once they are eventually selected.

If the Insight does finally take Missouri, their fans better bring it. If the stadium is half full and mostly Minn/MSU fans, Missou will get shafted at every possibility in the future.

I am still waiting for the offense, special teams, and defense to play a complete game together (especially offense). I want us to look pretty on cable.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

If they're so upset at the POSSIBILITY of ISU getting selected before them, they better put butts in the seats if the bowl committee selects them. Otherwise they're just crying "wolf" in my opinion. This will catch up to them sooner or later.

I don't think Pitt had more than 10k there, so that means that there were a lot of ISU fans there. The numbers of tickets sold through ISU were probably about half of the total number of ISU fans that were there. That's not even counting how many people were in the outfield pool.
Overall, it is hard to get official numbers of tickets sold to ISU fans. Maybe ticket websites should require you to enter who you are rooting for.
The Insight comitee has to remember this showing, which was much more impressive than the documented 20K shows. If you remember, they had temporary stands set up in the outfield grass so the capacity was altered. At least 1/4 of the actual baseball seats were not sold/used in that football game setup. Whatever the capacity was at that game, you're right, at least 75% were ISU fans.

I didn't remember the setup. So, maybe the capacity was more around 40K? Either way, 30K+ were ISU fans. I just remember standing in the band looking around the stadium and even the upper decks and seeing solid red. It was truly impressive. Let's go ahead and pack every bowl game like that from now on. Ok guys?

Here is another write up in the Star about it. And yes a MU guy wrote it. In Defense of Dan Beebe | Campus Corner Kyle S. Flander -

That said, in a very selfish way I hope we get the Texas bowl for the ESPN and Texas exposure.

Re: Latest from Insight (Tony Alba)
The comparison to KSU in KC doesn't hold water. Middle of the season game in cold KC vs. a bowl during the holiday week in warm AZ.
Clone to the Bone with the up and coming IOWA STATE. -

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative. ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other." -

That said, in a very selfish way I hope we get the Texas bowl for the ESPN and Texas exposure. Yeah... not to mention the fact that the cheapest way to get tickets was by ordering them from the missouri AD and getting endzone tix for 25 a pop. We had a pretty good sized group if you ask me.

Re: Latest from Insight (Tony Alba)
I really think because of the negative publicity that Insight is getting, they will be forced to take MU and will have a boring bowl. Missouri should kill either Bix X team. I like that we have Houston as the fall back instead of Shreveport. Better recruiting, better city, better stadium, better date, better TV network.
If we do get Insight, we better back our self up and get 20,000 there again. I doubt it will happen as a lot of fans are strapped, many didn't show up to good weather games in Ames in Nov. Plus, we haven't necessarily got a lot of momentum right now. CU was a nice win, but the losses were ugly.
All that said, I am going this year even if it was in Detroit.

All that said, I am going this year even if it was in Detroit. How much publicity is the controversy over the insight bowl really getting? Sure it's big news here, and on Mizzou message boards, but really is it that big of a story? Does anyone outside of the ISU/Mizzou fanbase really care?
