Re: NFL Network
There may still be a chance people without NFL Network see the game. I know in a lot of other areas around the country a local network will pick up the game from the network so it can be aired locally.
Who knows? Maybe that'll happen in this instance. Won't be nationwide, but at least the peole in Ames/DM can see it.

Insight might put some more dollars in our pockets, but I still think the Texas Bowl would have paid bigger dividends down the road for us in terms of getting the recruits we need to compete. Just my 2 cents.

Re: NFL Network
Who cares what network it is on, we're in the ******* Insight Bowl!!
If you would've predicted this at the beginning of the year, I would've asked you for come of your crack.

I can see how playing Navy makes the most sense here. Sorry, but I don't think that makes up for close to zero coverage ISU gets in the media. ESPN/ABC will give little or no mention to the Insight and ISU gets little exposure. Capital One week coverage on ESPN alone for the bowl games they show is worth a lot in recruiting exposure, etc. Believe me, the Insight will be ignored. That coupled with the fact that lots of people don't have the NFL, and who the hell watches it any way? Only NFL groupies. This why I really didn't want the Insight for ISU even though I'll probabaly go to Phoenix. The respect and exposure struggle continues for the Cyclones.

ABC/ESPN will barely even announce what the score was, much less highlights. Same for other networks.
The players and fans that go down there will enjoy this bowl a LOT. But the rest of us, and potential recruits will basically not even know the game took place.

Re: NFL Network
FYI -- Before I saw this thread, I started a thread on the possibility of the game being simulcast on one of the local DSM TV stations. http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...ight-bowl.html (Hope for Local TV Coverage of Insight Bowl?) -
Re: NFL Network
I can understand a bit of frustration about it being on a station that people don't have - but does everyone complaining really live that far from a sport bar?
I know it sucks when you have to quit playing D&D and leave the basement but sometimes it is a good thing to get out. That being said I have to get back to LoTRO - the raised the lvl cap to 65 and my Loremaster is only at 62 right now.

Your rite about espn/abc...I'm watching espn rite now and they dont even list the Insight Bowl game..... Talk about **** poor coverage...Of course they are listing the Mizzou-Navy Texas Bowl game.... This JOke's on US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And here I was getting ready to drive to Texas..... -
Re: NFL Network
So by all of your standards, Oklahoma vs. Stanford in the Sun and West Virginia vs. Florida State in the Gator won't get any coverage as well because they aren't on ESPN? You realize that all all bowl games, minus those listed above and the BCS Games, are on ESPN/ABC right?
They pretty much own College Football Postseason.
41-51 Record in CF Mafia. The most games played and wins by any player in Cyclone Fanatic History. Yes, I'm a nerd. -

They pretty much own College Football Postseason. They dont call them the mothership for no reason.

Re: NFL Network
Well that royally sucks. I went from being able to attend the game(Texas Bowl) to not even being able to watch it on TV. NFL network sucks.

There has to be a bar in your town with Direct TV...

There is always at least a slight kick to the stones when you are a fan of ISU athletics.
