Asteroids are nature's way of asking "How's that space program going?" -

There is a Butt Whipping ...Georgia should win easily

Re: Mizzou falls all the way to the Texas Bowl
I don't know if "falls" is the right word. Should it have been Missouri (8-4) vs. Minnesota (6-6), and Iowa State (6-6) vs. Navy (8-4)?
Just a much more even match up.

Re: Mizzou falls all the way to the Texas Bowl
I might be the only one who thinks this way but I think Missouri got a better deal than ISU.
Why?
Because NOBODY is going to see our game on the NFL Network but Missouri will get exposure (and the ESPN promo machine) that we won't.
Yeah, Phoenix is great but its going to next to invisible.
Don't think so? ESPN keeps repeating the bowl game they are doing (and all BCS bowls) and has yet to mention the Insight. They've show the Meinike Car Care bowl 5 times so far.

Missouri gets a less prestigious bowl, a bowl that pays less, and a tougher opponent.
We get a more prestigious bowl, a better destination, and an easier opponent.
The only drawback to the Insight is that it is on the bogus NFL Network, but the positives far outweigh that.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good. Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better. Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step. My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk,superdorf, clones_jer. That is all. -

Re: Mizzou falls all the way to the Texas Bowl
Don't forget, what a bowl pays out is immaterial.
After expenses, all Big 12 bowl payouts are split 12 ways by the conference.
Sooo...take out your expenses and give the Big 12 the check. (BTW expenses are usually considered at about what one share (a 13th payout) would be. The conference itself takes a little too.
That's why if Nebraska had won last night the an additional $4.5 million would be split 12 ways because of NU going to a BCS bowl and Texas also going to a BCS bowl. I'd estimate ISU's cut of that at about about $346,000.
Basically, Baylor gets the same share that Texas gets (less expenses)
By the way, ESPN just covered all the bowl games for the Big Ten . . . except 1.
Wanna guess which game that was?

Wanna guess which game that was? not true. only part of the remaining money is split.

Great points. Plus they get all that Texas exposure. Last time I checked there were a couple decent HS players in Texas.
