you be the judge.
We'll be driving. My question is which route is quicker...the diagonal from Wichita you're talking about or interstate all the way and going through OK City. The diagonal is two lane with small towns interspersed along the way whereas the interstate will guarantee a constant speed barring accidents and weather. I'm leaning interstate although it adds roughly 100 miles each way.

never went through Ok city, but i have been told the diagonal is still a little faster. but then when i made the trip, there wasn't 70 mph speed limits either. even though it was two lane, it seemed like i was making decent time. watch your speed in the OK panhandle.
Care to give me some insight as to where it's located and what the hotel/motel is?
Thanks.
Just go on hotwire and put in the dates and the phoenix area and it gives those options. Hotwire in case you are not familiar will not give you the hotel name until after you book, but gives you the basics like the area it is located and the quality of hotel

Just went this route last year and it really wasn't bad, I was told by some snowbirds that go to the Phoenix area every winter that this route is quite a bit faster than going through OKC. There are several places the highway is 4 lanes and 65 mph. If you are into scenic drives, don't go to Flagstaff then down, there is a diagonal route that mapquest sends you that is beautiful country. Also you will go through Greensburg, KS on hwy 54. It is the town that got wiped off the map almost by a F5 tornado 2 years ago. It was interesting just driving around the town and looking at what it did to the trees and buildings there. Very sad.
