Insight Bowl---will anyone know it's on TV?

Other than the fans of the teams who are playing, it doesn't look like anyone watches it. I'm guessing it moved to the NFL Network for the 06-07 bowl season, because that's when it came in dead last for bowl game TV ratings.

It hasn't fared much better since then:

06-07 Dead Last
07-08 2nd to Last
08-09 30th place

Why in the world is it on the NFL Network?

This is Jamie Pollard's fault isn't it? Back in 2006, knowing that it would **** in RossHallHero's cheerios, he lobbied to get this game on NFL Network in order to **** you off as part of his never ending quest to destroy ISU athletics.

Anybody that needs/wants to watch this game, will do so. It's not going to be a big draw anyway. The only bad thing is that fewer casual football fans will be able to watch. Not really a big deal, IMO.

I agree. As a casual fan of games that we're not involved in, this probably isn't one I would have been dying to see. SO I think you're right that fewer casual fans will watch, but how many casual fans were looking for our game anyway?

Oh, I don't think any of them would look for our game, but sometimes I'll happen upon a game and become intrigued with some aspect of it and watch it.

Reality is that the bowl game's that feature two 6 & 6 teams are not big draws on a national level. On the other hand, it is Big 12 vs. Big 10 which does carry some water. Most people that have an interest will find a way to watch this game on the NFL network, not that big an issue IMO. Lots of people have Dish & Direc, cable subscribers are fleeing like rats off a sinking ship!

It is also on during the dinner hours on New Year's Eve. People will be out and not caring about the game.

Yeah, the time and network for this game sucks. It would be nice if it was on ESPN. In reality probably only Cyclone, Gopher, and hardcore football fans will be tuning in at 5:00 on New Year's Eve.

One of the most important groups- recruiting targets, will surely be made aware, and if they are seriously considering ISU, they will tune in.

Yeah boys and girls.......I stated going into the bowl season that we/ iowa state...would be a lot better off just to take the texas bowl and enjoy a nice time in Houston TX...

Like it or not Texas the state of Tx ...not butter teeth and the shorthorns...dominate the big 12 recruiting wars....

ISU would have been a lot better off playing in Houston and being on ESPN nationwide instead of on the nfl network that no one carries....

Who cares about who watches it? Ratings are the NFL Network's concern, not ISU's. It's not like some non-ISU fan was going to happen to flip through the game and suddenly donate a million dollars. Random recruits aren't going to watch two 6-6 teams, regardless of the channel they're on - they'll flip to what pertains to them. What does anyone care, other than for another reason to complain?

I think this does limit our exposure though, especially with potential recruits. Pretty hard to tell some kid to tune into our bowl game when it's on a channel that doesn't come in at his house. How many high school kids are going to go through a ton of extra effort to watch 1 of a thousand bowl games?
