KU's Gill adds Long OC & Torbush DC

Gill added Chuck Long as OC and Torbush (Miss St DC) as DC.

Let's hope we POUND these guys the next 10 years.

gill still went 20-30(?) for buffalo in his coaching career there. i'm not sold this was a good hire for kansas. i can't imagine this staff will do any better than mangina's. probably won't cause injury to his own players, though.

I doubt the average KU fan is doing cartwheels over this. Looks to me like they hired a minority coach who is openly Christian to compensate for Mangino's verbal tirades and abuse.
Chuck Long as OC? Wow. He was OC at Oklahoma in name only, as Stoops gave almost all offense responsibilities to Kevin Wilson.

weren't some cyclone fans rooting for gill to be hired by isu last year? why is gill a bad hire for ku now? i understand he doesnt have a good record but chizik or rhoads didn't have any experience as a head coach.

What I want to know, is why everyone that thinks this is not a good hire for Kansas but a year ago this was the one of the best available or should I say that everyone was wanting? Now i'm not saying that you thought he was, but I bet half this board at the time would of loved to of had Turner Gill as our HC. Is it because he turned his back on us? Whats the deal?

I for one would have been good with Gill, but yeah his record isnt great. I think he will bring some stability with him. KU probably figured this would be a good get and would temper some of the fires.

He would have been a good hire last year however this year his team sank back down. Plus we are Iowa State so we will tell you when he would be a good hire and since he is going to KU he is a bad hire for them. That's why.

Left that the altar syndrome. We were shunned, hence he is less.

What I would like to know is.... wasn't the word that Gill didn't want to coach in the Big XII north againt NU? What happened to that ?

That's where I'm at. And since we have Paul Rhoads, I'd rather have our guy than anybody else out there.

i didn't think gill would have been a good hire last year for isu. he had one good season in a very subpar conference. further, rhoads had success at pitt, and at auburn even though he had no head coaching experience. the same for chizik (as much as i hate to admit it). i think people just love the bandwagon and want the sexy hire, even if it isn't the best hire. i'm glad pollard understood what we really needed was someone who was a cyclone by heart, not by title.

Perhaps you guys should go and look at Buffalo's record before Gill got there. They ranked 119th out of 119 teams every year. Worst D1 team in the country. He build them to where they actually competed

The 7 years before Gil got to Buffalo they averaged just over 1 win a year! 1 win

They won more games last year then they did in the 7 before he became a coach.

I am not sold on him as a great hire, but you have to realize that Buffalo was one of the worst football programs in the country when he took over. I mean that only won 24 games in the 10 seasons before he was hired.

Thats a fair answer! I was just curious. I knew that he said he didn't want to coach against Nebraska, but was just curious if people were still upset about that. Is that the only reason?
