    Re: Duran Hollis COMMITTED (12/16/2009)

As an Iowa fan - Iowa wasn't recruiting him anymore. The Hawks have 4* Marcus Coker, as well as 3* De'Andre Johnson coming in, as well as 3 returning sophomores next year.

HAHAHAHAHAHA YES! That actually took longer than I thought it would!

Regardless solid pick up, I like the way this class is shaping up!

Great pickup! I would think this staff has a great oppurtunity here to start heavily recruiting the 2011 class which I think will be great for getting some early summer commits!

Why try to pimp the guy up by saying ISU stole him over Iowa? Why not just say he's a great addition to the class and leave it at that?
I'm not sure how much it was "Iowa wasn't recruiting him" for those reasons as much as it was "he eliminated Iowa" for those reasons.

Who knows, frankly, who cares? He joined the good guys and we're glad to have him aboard. Looks like he'll fit into our running style/scheme well.

    Welcome Mr. Hollis!

This. Iowa didn't still want him.

Did they take his offer back? Hard to say they weren't recruiting him, if they offered him. Maybe they weren't recruiting him hard because they had an idea he wasn't going to Iowa.

I don't know if Iowa pulled their offer or not, but they did stop recruiting him about 2 or 3 months ago and not because they had an idea that he wasn't going to Iowa, it was because they got committs from Coker and Johnson.

Iowa will have these RB's on scholarship next fall:
    Robinson
    Hampton
    Wegher
    O'Mera
    Brinson
    Coker
    Johnson

After Johnson and Coker committed they didn't want an 8th RB on scholarship. Sure they would have taken him but I think he would have been switched to a DB and I'm not sure if he wanted to do that.

    Re: Duran Hollis COMMITTED (12/16/2009)

I hate to say it, but I agree with the hawk fans here.

Iowa already has some good running back commits lined up. If ISU had snagged this guy before Iowa had those guys lined up, you would have room to talk.

I still think it is a positive that Hollis was being persued actively by a good program like Iowa though. I have high hopes for this guy.

Hawk fans, it would probably have been better if you hadn't taken the bait and said you didn't want him anymore. FWIW

Who cares? He was good enough to get an offer from them at some point. Either they found guys they liked better or he eliminated them...probably the former. It doesn't matter either way. ISU had him visit back in September, so you know that they had him ranked pretty high on their board.
