if were able to carry 25 schollies per year by NCAA rule....
If were able to roll 3 back to 2009 based upon your numbers.
that would leave us with the allotted 28 as you discussed. But, if we have transfers etc can that number once again go up to a potential class of 30 if two transfer.
My guess is this - the staff is expecting a class of 28 with no transfers. The reason i think this way is the number of kids their still recruiting leads me to believe they have at least 4 scholarships to give and possible 6. That way, if someone leaves at midterm after the bowl game, they're already in on some of these kids. Then again, they could always hold that schollie in case a very questionable but talented kid becomes available at the last minute we have the schollie to go out and sign him.

it is the dead period now and between new years. does this mean that the coaches cannot talk to recruits that are 2009-2010 february elgible recruits. can they talk to undergrads during the dead period or are they off-limits too. i woke up at 3:30 am today and watched the replay of the abilene -katy texas game. hershel sims and his cousin ronnell sims are both studs. i have been after rhoads and herman to get after hershel sims, malcolm brown from cibolo steele and aaron green from san antonio madison b4 mack brown locks onto them right after february signing.aaron green may be considering notre dame.
there were some high lights of the aledo game. they have a soph back named johnathan gray and this kid is a stud at running back. he is about 5-10 185 and 4.4 in the 40. he is the best soph running back i have seen in a long time in texas.in the replays they showed about him he may be quicker than 4.4 in the 40. as a freshman,he was newcomer of the year in his football district.as a freshman this kid rushed 140 times for 969 yds. he also scored 15 tds. i have forwarded his name to coach rhoads, coach herman and to rcmckim, who is their student recruiting coordinator.
merry christmas and happy new year to each and everyone.
Here's the NCAA definition of the dead period:
The college coach may not have any in-person contact with you or your parents at any time in the dead period. The coach may write and telephone you or your parents during this time.
Based upon the number of players their trying to get in for visits, i'm making the contention that their looking for more then 25-26. I'm projecting that they need 28-30 to fill this years class!!!!
mizouse my bad on chuck vs chucky.glad u r a syntax
The only reason transfers come into play this year is that we only have room for 26 more scholarship players next year if no one transfers. I believe that if two or more players transfer, we will have room for 28.
You're wrong too. You can count 5 early enrollees against last year's class if your particular team happens to meet all the requirements (didn't sign the full 25 the year before etc.). Sorry, I would link you proof, but I don't have the time nor the inclination to look it up since I am at work.
So, we currently have room for 26 scholarship players to be signed because of the 85 schollie limit. One of the December JuCo grads can count towards last years 25 due to no shows.
If 2 total schollies open up due to transfers or attrition, we can have two more of the December JuCo grads count back to the 2009 class.
However, we can only count 3 back to last year, because we used 22 schollies in the 2009 class (including gray shirts...).
Does that sound right? I have heard people say that we had more schollies from 2009 available for the Dec JuCo grads, but I am not sure we do.
good discussion from everyone, but it seems hard to pinpoint an exact number. can't wait till february to find out for sure how many it will be.
