Outside the men's room: Football All-Decade
Yesterday I unleashed the basketball version, today it is football.
Looking back, I maybe should have had a section to list honorable mention.

Re: Outside the men's room: Football All-Decade
I would argue the best defensive performance would be the 2005 23-3 beat down of the over-rated Hawks. Our defense looked championship calibre that day and really smacked um around. They didn't sniff the red zone. The most satisfying win of the series in my opinion. "Tuba" should receive honorable mention as well as he is seeing success in the NFL.

Good points. Both were definitely in consideration.

Re: Outside the men's room: Football All-Decade
I realize that JJ is on there as a returner, but IMO he should be there as a WR rather than Sumrall. I really feel like he was a guy that had the potential to take it to the house on every play, and we haven't had a guy like that since.
And Reggie Hayward should have been on there, hands down.
I realize you said they only played in 2000, but it was still in this decade and therefore they should have been on there...
Great list other than that... just my $.02

Re: Outside the men's room: Football All-Decade
First of all, I like your list. You can make a great arguement for all of those players, but I would personally change a few things.
I believe reggie hayward was the best DL we've ever had, and he would have been the first name I put on that Defense. Second, does Carl Gomez deserve to be on that list? IIRC, he was a solid punter and kicker. I think I would put Tuba over Nick Leaders and One of those 2005 DBs over Marc Timmons. and JJ over Sumrall

Re: Outside the men's room: Football All-Decade
Thanks for the responses guys. It was hard leaving Hayward off, definitely the next DL on, just my opinion.
As far as JJ versus Sumrall, I basically just went off of career numbers to break that tie, but Sumrall has the advantage of 4 season this decade compared to one for JJ, something I took into consideration (same deal for Hayward).
Gomez was a solid punter and I think he only kicked toward the end of that 2000 season when the original starter was struggling...McKnight or Kohl maybe?
Timmons I basically put on because I didn't want to have the entire secondary form 04/05. But as I mentioned, that isn't a far fetched scenario at all.

Re: Outside the men's room: Football All-Decade
Curvey? Really......
Jesse Smith is good, but not all decade good.
Why isn't Hayward there?

yeah, weve had 3 other LBs that were All BIG 12, like Jesse. Right?

Re: Outside the men's room: Football All-Decade
Curvey scored 3 TD's in his career, all of them desperately needed to win games.
Baylor in 04, KU in 04, and CU in 05.

Who is better? Our all decade team...... or Florida last year.

Re: Outside the men's room: Football All-Decade
Well if you consider guys who were on last years team but will end up in the NFL... its probably even.
Crazy to think of it that way.

Crazy to think of it that way. That's just one of the things to consider but its an interesting question. I think it would be a close game.

Just a quick look. They had 3 guys drafted off last years team and 3 projected first round draft picks this year.
Has ISU ever had a first round NFL draft pick?
