ISU outscored by opponent 1.5 ppg in 09
In 06: 226 to opponent's 369. an avg 12 ppg
In 07: 218 to opponent's 379. an avg 13 ppg
In 08: 304 to opponent's 430. an avg 11 ppg
In 09: 253 to opponent's 271. an avg 1.5 ppg
It is just amazing how this program turned around in CPR's FIRST YEAR. It simply fascinates me.

Re: ISU allowed 1.5 ppg on avg in 09
Do you mean outscored by as opposed to allowed?

Okay, I think I finally got the wording right. You have to go all the way back to 2005 to see ISU on the other side of the margin. Paul Rhoads is, by far, the best hire in our football program history.

Not sure how you figure this, but its seems you are looking at the difference between what we scored and the opponents scored. This is not how you average points allowed. It is total points allowed/number of games. But you are correct it is a huge improvement over the last 3 years for sure.

I don't like that we're still getting outscored by our opponents but there's definitely improvement. Hopefully next year we can change this to "outscoring our".
EDIT: Hopefully, after Thursday we can change that to "outscoring":)

I think you might be going a little over the top with that one.

Remember when, I think it was Nate Frere, talked about allowing 20 a game and we all laughed? Well, they came close this year and I don't see the defense getting worse. We could be on the brink. I like where this is heading.
I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU
Or so I have read. -

Re: ISU outscored by opponent 1.5 ppg in 09
I do think ISU improved this year but they also faced a much weaker schedule than last year. Kent St, Mizzou, Nebraska, Baylor, Kansas, A&M and Ok St were all weaker on offense this year than in past years. You also replaced a pretty decent offense in UNLV with a terrible offense in Army.
The only teams on ISU's schedule that really were improved on offense were KSU and maybe Iowa.
It's difficult to make comparisons like this without first looking at the strength of your opponents. It may be difficult to improve that number next year when you add Texas and Oklahoma back to your schedule.
