team recruiting 2002 till now
sorry i'm bored so i'll just keep posting random things
02--30th
03--46th
04--42nd
05--58th
06--63rd
07--60th
08--62nd
09--73rd
10--currently 47th. However, our class is almost full and there are a LOT of teams who will pass us by simply putting bodies in their classes. i would predict an upper 50's low 60's finish.
the sad thing about these low class rankings is that the team has generally finished worse than the recruit rankings.

Re: team recruiting 2002 till now
If the rankings are accurate, it shows that Mac's recruiting really tailed off at the end and Chizik made things even worse.

Re: team recruiting 2002 till now
Would never suspect that Rhoads could do this well in yr one with sub par recruiting classes. Oh, and thanks for nothing Gene. All the hype surrounding your recruiting was just that.

All the hype surrounding your recruiting was just that. Tell that to LJ, Darks, Benton, KO, Haughton, Lyle, Alvarez who are all starting. And Rump, Lenz, SJ, Klein, Franklin, Maggitt, Tiller who have all seen major time. I don't buy rankings, what I look at is other offers. Rhoads has done a great job so far and it's way too early to make any judgement on his recruiting, but I'd bet that Chizik's 2008 class had more players with other BCS offers than any in the last 20 years.
I'm glad Chizik is gone and we got CPR, but he wasn't the devil. Looking objectively, he did a pretty good job recruiting and keeping players out of trouble (or bringing in players that wouldn't get in trouble). Gameday coaching was the main issue.

I don't know if I buy this. It's true that ISU hasn't had a lot of success pulling in high ranking classes historically, but I really like what Rhoads is doing in his first full year of recruiting. With 24 recruits, ISU is currently tied for the 47th best recruiting class, and has 566 points. Over the last six years, teams with about 566 total points at the end of the recruiting season averaged out to have the 48th best class in the nation. With two scholarships left to give, ISU's ranking will probably stay the same or go up a bit.

Re: team recruiting 2002 till now
Even though we have a high national ranking, we may still finish last in the big 12. We are currently 8th with 24 commits. However, Kansas has 14 commits, Baylor has 16, KSU has 13 and Colorado has 12 in that order. We may beat Colorado as they are ranked 64 right now, but we may get jumped by everyone else since they still have a long way to go. Even though our recruiting is better than previous years, it looks like the Big12 overall had a good year as well.

Re: team recruiting 2002 till now
Listen, no team will make a complete roster of 4 and 5 star guys. There will always be 3, 2 and maybe even walk ones who are great players. The key is for us to find the guys we can develop into greatness. So far we have succeeded. We had two four star guys on the team last year. One was hurt and one didn't contribute much. Chizik left us some guys that can play the game. The problem was they were young and Chiz didn't get much done with what he had. I would say this years team is more talented than last years, however not 4 games better. Not beating Nebraska on the road better. Not having a chance to go 9-3 better. CPR, so far, has proven he has put the staff in place to succeed with talent that is not as great as teams we play. I cannot wait to see what he can do when he starts getting some raw talent. He got David Sims last who i really believe that when he was on the field may have been the best player on the field. I am not just saying that. When I watched him play I thought that. If Rony Nelson comes in and has anywhere near that impact, we will be good on defense. Not great because we lack depth, but we will be good. A year ago this program was in limbo. We had no idea where we were going. I never imagined we would be in this position where we had the opportunity and reason to be so optimistic. CPR has never had a losing record as a head coach and I love it.

Even though our recruiting is better than previous years, it looks like the Big12 overall had a good year as well. Unless those teams get some highly ranked recruits they won't make a significant jump upward. I believe that you only get a few points for an average player. It is the big names that jump your points ratings and hence your class rating.
I think that Chizik brought in an upgrade of talent that was able to show up. Mac's last few classes were made up of guys that were high risk. A lot of them never even made it to campus. And I remember that things were really looking bleak on the recruiting front when Mac resigned. Things were really bleak.

"CPR has never had a losing record as a head coach and I love it."
hold your breath, there is still a chance.

Re: team recruiting 2002 till now
Go back and adjust the rankings for guys who stayed at least a year or 2.

Re: team recruiting 2002 till now
I don't buy into the rankings either but this class does look pretty solid so far.I think Chiz did a good job of upgrading the athleticism of the team it will be interesting to see how Rhoads first class pans out, and if he can keep up this kind of recruiting momentum.
The only bigger turnoff than finding out a woman smokes, is finding out she's a Husker fan. -
Re: team recruiting 2002 till now
Am I the only one that is really happy with the way Chizik recruited? I actually am. The players he brought in are arguably our best players
