Re: I feel worse after the win...

I was very happy we got the win last night. That said, I was somewhat disappointed that our guys couldn't finish off those drives to really dominate the scoreboard.

The great part about this bowl win is that our guys get the positivity of winning their last game of the season, AND the coaches get plenty of tape to show the guys how much needs to be worked on for next season. This will help prevent complacency during the off-season.

I'm so thankful to the state of Minnesota. Watching the Gophers and Vikes choke away games to my two favorite teams really closed out 2009 on a positive note for me.

LMAO, time to stop drinking, get some sleep, then see a psychiatrist. If you can't be happy after a bowl win. Then there's not much hope for you. A win is a win is a win. IF you can't be happy now, then it's time to find a good medication for you.

Re: I feel worse after the win...

Spread offenses only go as far as their QB can take them. Arnaud was QB having a 6-5 record. If you look around the nation at teams running the spread, good teams have good QBs and great teams have great QBs.

I have a strong feeling that arnaud is our guy next year, and he has about 8 months to turn into a 7-8 win season QB, and I am going to put A LOT of pressure on his shoulders because that is the nature of the position. You play well, your the hero. You play poorly, you suck.

It's OK to be happy with a win, guys.

Was it a pretty game? No.

Are there things to work on during the offseason? Yes.

Is this team going to need to be a lot better to achieve the same results (or better) with next year's schedule? Yes.

Was it a win in a bowl game? HELL YES!!!

When the game was on the line and we HAD to run the ball and get a couple first downs to preserve the win - when everyone in the stadium and in the televised audience knew we were going to run, AA would not go down short of that yellow line. He, along with A-Rob, got it when we had to have it. I'm certainly concerned about 4 TO's, but I am pretty sure I would have felt worse after a loss. I know that feeling well, and this was better.

What are your concerns? I would say it's in my top 3 concerns.

Re: I feel worse after the win...

It's really ironic that people are quick to jump all over the negatives of the game right after a win. This is the North Dakota game all over again - we win that game by 30 points and all some people can talk about ja how we would have lost to Ames high if we played them. I honestly don't get some Cyclone fans.

Did Arnaud have a crap game? Yes. But he's also a major reason why we won this game, because without his two scoring plays we quite possibly lose 13-0. But of course, all some people can do is look at the turnovers and talk about how we should have won the game by 3 TDs. I guess it's just too difficult to celebrate our first bowl win since 2004 and first winning season since 2005. Get a ******* clue - we have about 8 months to argue about how much Arnaud sucks. Does it have to start 2 freaking hours after a bowl win?

A bowl win makes the out of season lifting sessions easier to wake up for, easier to do...easier to stay motivated...it makes spring better. It makes your football team better. It gives you more of a boost in the national benefit of the doubt factors for next year's predictions, which is public impression, momentum in recruiting, etc.

There is never an ugly bowl win.
100% correct. For god sakes get in talks to get State of the Nations back on. Miss that show.

I wish we could play 8 Big 10 teams instead of 8 Big XII teams every year. I think CyPride is right. Maybe not Rose Bowl every year, but I believe we would have averaged 1-2 more wins per year for the decade of 2000-2009 in the Big 10 than we did in the Big XII.
Gene Smith, 1993-2000. 7 years, 6 NCAA's, 1 bowl game. Revenue sports postseason participation 50%. Good.
    Bruce Vandevelde, 2000-20005. 5 years, 4 bowl games, 2 NCAA's, 2 NIT's. Postseason participation 80%. Better.
    Jamie Pollard, 2005-. 4 years. 1 bowl game, 0 NCAA's, 0 NIT's. Postseason participation: 13%. The next big step.

My ignore list: splitidentity, tarheelhawk, superdorf, clones_jer. That is all.

Pretty disappointing to see this post from you Cydkar.

AA did some bad things last night, which are what you are focusing on.

He also made the plays that won the game for us. Don't forget that.

I would say the defense made the plays that won the game for us. But that's just my opinion.

You are seriously going to complain with a bowl win?!?!?! I don't understand people who say we should win by X amount of points. You're not a true fan if you aren't happy with the win. AA didn't play well, but he helped to put a trophy in the case. This is getting old on this board! Do you think the players and CPR care how many points we won by as long as we won? I don't think so D-B!
