    Next Great Cyclone QB

I don't want this to be another thread about Arnaud next season. He's going to be our QB next season and I think he will do fine.

What I want to talk about is the years after arnaud. Guys like Tiller, then Barnett. It's too early to tell, but Hopefully one of these guys can be "our guy" to take us to the next level. If not, Herman and Rhoads need to go find "that guy".

If our offense is a solar system, our QB is the sun. Everything revolves around him, and nothing works without him. We can't even run the ball effectively without a passing threat.

I'd be really excited to see an Iowa high school Junior emerge as elite all-state the next two years and committ to the cyclones. He could come in and start for 3 years after tiller/barnett have their turn.

A program like missouri is a great example of what I am talking about. When they finally got their superstar (Brad Smith) and things started taking off for them. Then they got another superstar (Chase Daniel) because Daniel realized things were starting to get established. Now they have a 3 year starter in Gabbert who could really come into his own. Now, they have a 2011 committ from a kid from the Kansas City area.

Missouri finally got their ball rolling and they could really be a solid team for a while. If Iowa state can find a great QB, things could really take off for the cyclones as well.

I think Capello has the chance to something special, it seems he has the tools to get it done in this offense.

I really hope CPR uses that last shollie for a stud qb if one is out there. Hugely important in 2011.

I still think Arnaud has the most potential, followed by Barnett, Tiller and then Capello.

If he walks on, he'd be buried deeper on the depth chart than Adam James in an electrical closet.

Not to bag on a Cyclone, but Capello has a looooooong way to go before he could be considered something special.

I mean, seriously, coaches say something about the extra practices being good for some young players, like Capello, and fans take that and run with it. All of a sudden, Capello is the next Joe Montana. He's not. He may wind up being good, but he's not there yet and is a long way from getting there.

I agree with Woodie. If we have a chance to sign Creekmur we'd be crazy not to. He has the size and athletic ability to be a great qb.

How fast is chanse? Can he run the zone read effectively? I watched blake haluska play, the kid is talented. Hes 6'4" and has speed in his genes. Impressive player who could have success at the next level. Hopefully he decides to walk on at iowa state

Then they got another superstar (Chase Daniel) because Daniel realized things were starting to get established.
From what I have heard this is not true. Chase wanted to go to Texas in the worst way but they thought he was too short. Missouri saw promise in him and went after him much like Iowa went after Tate. At the last minute Texas realized the mistake and offered Daniel but it was too late. Missouri did their homework and saw a winner. We did the same thing with Senaca.

I saw him play many times. He is a great kid that has alot of talent and height. With these talents and his hard work ethic, he could contribute somewhere on the team.

The most POTENTIAL? Are you joking? If thats the case we need to recruit 3 more QBs.

I don't know how you can put anyone ahead of Arnaud right now really. I hope he doesn't have the most potential but I haven't seen anything out of Tiller to conclude he is going to be great. I haven't heard much about Capello or Bueker. Barnett hasn't stepped foot on campus yet and some people are saying he has a chance to start next year and give Tiller a run the next year. I think Arnaud can throw for 3000 yards next year. I think he will be much more comfortable. I think the receivers will be better. I have a lot of confidence in the "second year" theory. Call me crazy if you want but that's the way I see it.

    Or so I have read.

I think Barnett has a really really bright future. Much more impressed by him out of high school than Tiller. Barnett ran a very similar system in HS and showed the ability to make all the throws.
