Re: Can ISU beat Texas next year with Gilbert as QB?
Depending on QB at TX and OU, we face 4 potential Top 10 teams next year (Iowa, Nebraska, Texas & Oklahoma) and none of them will be winnable without a LOT of miraculous growth.
A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.
Re: Can ISU beat Texas next year with Gilbert as QB?
You're throwing a QB into the biggest game of the year, who happens to be a freshman. He has virtually no chance to look good. From what I've seen, he's not too bad. I prefer him to how Landry Jones looked for most of the season.

They lose a lot, but not enough.
I said to a co-worker yesterday (all are UT alumni), I'd be EXTREMELY happy if we could have the ball in the 4th quarter with a chance to tie or go ahead.
Socking one of the Big XII South teams in the mouth would be a HUGE accomplishment.
