the before Doug Williams would be James Harris.
I think that guy was in every FB card pack I ever bought.

There's enough great highlights on that 08 You Tube to fill up 3 seasons. He just looks like the kind of big, fast and hard-hitting football talent that needs to find a spot on the field someplace, and could become another great walk-on from SEP.

    Re: Jeff Woody

Unless ISU starts putting a Fullback on the field I am not sure if Woody has a future at Running Back, especially with the talent we have at the position.
The only thing I could see is that he would be the "change of pace" back and come in a pound for a guaranteed 3 yards.

He is deffinitely a good enough athlete that he can contribute after a position change though.

    Re: Jeff Woody

Everytime Woody comes up some ding dongs start talking about him playing safety. Some people just don't get the 40 time is great but it is one direction straight ahead for 40 yards. You need hips, quickness, the ability to change direction and play the ball in the air to be a safety.

Linebacker maybe, but it's tough to make a linebacker. Some people either are or they aren't. You can take a RB or WR with the right tools and make them a decent DB, but usually linebackers require more instinct than other positions.

Just saying it's annoying getting the impression people believe so much in the 40 time. Comparing Woody's athleticism to John Lynch is outrageous. The guy played centerfield for USC and had an amazing ability to tackle in the open field which takes superior athleticism....which doesn't get accounted for in a 40 time.

Have you seen him play before? If you have than I will take your word for it. If you haven't then how do you know he has none of these attributes? How do you know his instincts aren't good enough to be a linebacker. While a 40 time doesn't tell a lot, it is an indicator of athleticism to a point. You also don't need all of those things you stated to be a strong safety depending on how you're used. With our current situation I don't think he could be a safety, I agree there. I still think he changes positions at some point unless maybe the coaches think he will be a stud RB who will see the field. I will let the coaches decide what to do with him. If nothing else he should be a great special teams player.
