Here's the conversation that I had last week with Iowa State's director of strength and conditioning, Yancy McKnight. I think you'll enjoy this behind the scenes look at the program.
Thanks, Chris. I would think the success last year on the field really makes the winter workouts more enjoyable (not the word I want but I can't think of how else to say it..
Is anyone else a little shocked that we don't have a training table? I wonder how much it would cost to provide such a thing because I'd have to think it'd make a huge impact if you could monitor and make sure guys are eating what they're supposed to, not merely suggest what to eat.

I was surprised with this as well. I thought from my days at ISU (early 90s) that there was a training table in the old RCA.

I am surprised as well. I hope that nutrition for some of our OL is more closely monitored.

*sigh* Everybody always picks on the fat kids...
"No matter how many hours you study opponent films, there's only going to be eleven players on the other side of the line of scrimmage." - Sid Gillman
It's a simple game in which strategic beauty comes not from being surprised by some new clever trick, but from the sublime, routine brilliance of a master in his element.

Me too. Diet and Nutrition is everything. Big surprise to me.
I am pretty sure that the NCAA dictates that you can only have training table while the athletes are in season for all sports and they allow football during spring ball as well. I wish athletes should be allowed access to training table year round if they train year round.
