Surprised I've never heard about it before, though.

Re: Anyone remember this?
My buddy's and I used to light pipe bombs all the time and blow up mailboxes. Then finally one of us got nailed by the cops (not me). He was given 1 year of probation and 10 hours community service. Now he would have got 5 years in prison, put on a no fly list, shunned by society in general.
So have things changed that much since then. I would say yes and that was in 1991 ish.

I was at that game. Alex Espinosa threw five bombs ... 4 for TDs, one landed in seats.

Didn't matter, since ISU had fired Criner earlier that week, and had already notified bowl reps that ISU would not accept a postseason bid because of the forthcoming NCAA hammer.

I agree that in some ways we are trying to hard to protect ourselves from everything, but that is still a sick sense of hummer if it was 4 years ago or 40 years ago it doesn't matter. If they had created a bomb and placed it out in the middle of a corn field just to watch it blow up it would be one thing, but to place it in the stands during a football game where you have a high chance of hurting someone if it goes off. Believe me, I've blow plenty of things up in my day, but what they did was wrong. You clearly have hummers on your mind ...And the home of the CHIEFS!!! -

I was at ISU then and I don't remember. Of course that was about the time I turned of legal drinking age, things were a little fuzzy around that time.

Only one landed in the stands. Alex must have been on that day. THat guy threw the football harder than I have ever seen anyone in my life. The only problem was he threw it the same wether it was a 5 yard screen play or a 50 yard bomb.

Ah, the good old days: bomb threats, 30,000+ in he stands and finishing the season post-bowl game with a 41% winning percentage! It was a simpler time...

Our first bowl came in 1971 and with a 8-4 record. You are probably thinking of 1972 when we finished 5-6-1 and a loss in the Liberty Bowl. We were also ranked as high as 12th in the nation at one point that season after we tied with the 3rd rank Huskers.

You are completely right. I'm brain damaged. I also forgot to add "back in the good old days, when ties weren't just something you got for Father's Day!"

I can't remember exactly when we got the bowl bid but I bet there were at least three or four games left in the season because we had a good record when we got the bid. Back then the bowl bids could go out real early...maybe with no limits as to how early.
