I've heard there's also some work being done to find an immediate replacement for Brandtner. You might wanna get confirmation on that next blog. That is a huge position to fill...possibly the most important IMO

However, it seems like for the past decade that punter was one position where whenever we lose a great player, the next guy is just as good. I remember being worried about losing Blankenship too.
In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection. -

I believe Vander Kamp is coming in to be our new punter.

Vanderkamp is going to be the punter next year, by default.

Is Guyer in the mix for punter?

But, you musn't touch!
His name sounds good in your ear
But when you say it, you mustn't fear
Because his name can be said by anyone!” -

Why would he be by default when we have two scholarshipped kickers already on staff who have punting experience? From what I understand, one of these two kickers will most likely be doing the punting next season. I do know that both have been practicing in the indoor facility during the offseason. People might say Guyer because hes on scholarship but doesnt handle any kicking duties. I think the coaching staff has pretty firm beliefs that the best athletes will play so I would not be completely shocked if Mahoney handles both duties (kicking and punting). Not trying to say that he's the better of the two at punting, just saying that if he does turn out to be the better punter, he could very well be pulling double duty.

Often puntinmg and placekicking by the same player don't mix well--different mechanics.

Great news on Reynolds. He's perfect for the spread with his ability after the catch and I think he'll have a big year.

You may want to try explaining that to a few of the past Ray Guy/Groza winners/finalists. Its becoming more and more common and it helps the kickers/punters become a bit more marketable towards the NFL.
