Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
Big 12 pre-spring power rankings - Big 12 Blog - ESPN
Likes us not our schedule.
Hopfully we will end up having the best Big 12 recieving/running back combo over what they are predicting Oklahoma will have. As long as we dont get another senior plateau I think we should be in the running. -
Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
Pretty nice. I was thinking the same thing. We might have a better team this year but our record might not show it. We need to get those non-conference wins this year and hope for one maybe two upsets. 6-6 this year would be great.

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
I don't know about Kansas being ahead of us. They lost a lot of key players from last season. I would think we should be able to beat them in Ames this year.

KU ahead of us is a crock of ****.
Other than that...I thought it was spot on.

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
Yeah, KU seems too high at #7. This is a team that went 1-7 in the league last year only winning a tight game against us at home. And they are coming off of a lot of off season issues and breaking in a new coach.
Also great to see that we dropped the 6, 9, and 12 teams from the south in exchange for 1, 3, and 5. Top that off with our non-conference schedule and this team could take several big steps forward this year and end up 5-7. That said, if we get back to a bowl this year my man crush on CPR will become a full blown love fest.

A&M is going to be dang good. I would rather play Tech than A&M this year for sure. I would not want to play Baylor with RGIII back either.
Unfortunately, OU and UT come back around almost guaranteeing two losses.
I like that we have the two toughest North teams, Mizzou and Nebbie, at home.

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
The schedule has me really excited for the season. We may not win as many games as I would like, but it will be fun to see us play Utah. Also, this is a good year to play TT, OU and Texas. Not that there is really ever a good year to play OU and Texas. Also, we can get KU. Turner Gill will have growing pains.

Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
With the KU thing, was it a ranking of team strength or a projected finish? KU has an easier schedule, which means projected finish would make more sense.

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
i will not be happy if kansas beats us in ames this season. no way that happens... reising is a huge loss, huge. if they can run the ball 35 times a game for around 250 yards then maybe, but that is not going to happen in year one.

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
i agree with being excited about schedule.. i cannnot wait for the utah game!

It's a power ranking so I would think it would go more by team strength, not projected record. If it is by projected record then I guess it makes sense, but I do think we're the stronger team.

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
With the schedule of: NDSU, GT, S Miss, NM State, Baylor, Kansas State, A&M, ISU, Colorado, NE, OKST, MIZZ.
is why Kansas is picked to be better than us.
If i remember right didnt they have a pretty good recruit class 2 years ago also? that would help them also. The learning curve of Gill's new system might be the only thing holding them back from a good year in 2010

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
I think both the Kansas school games, Northern Illinois, and UNI should be wins. We just need to pick up 2 more somewhere in Utah, Iowa, Mizzou, Tech, or @CU. Surely that's doable.

Re: Early Preseason Rankings ISU > OKSt
Yep, the KU thing is crap...Also, I don't think Tech is going to be very successful this year. Way overrated on that IMO.
Don't know what kind of offense they plan on running, but they will have a tough transition period...also, if they plan on playing a 3-4 against us, we will have a HUGE day running the ball, and the game is in Ames.
