I agree. I wouldn't even care if a guy failed as a coordinator. That is not what he was hired for. If you were looked at to be a coordinator, you were doing a pretty damn good job as a position coach so I think this is about as good of a hire as we could make.

Re: Bobby Elliott hired to coach defensive backs
I just have a hard time believing he's changed. I don't appreciate how he seems to use ISU as an "in between job" sort of gig. He didn't show Danny Mac any sort of loyalty for sure.
Notwithstanding his previous track record with ISU . . . if ISU gets two loyal years out of him, I'd be surprised and happy.

He wasn't the DC at ISU. He was a secondary and special teams coach here. He left to take that job at KSU. Most anyone would consider that a promotion and opportunity
Can you blame him? Not much different than what Ash just did.
Now if he said he was "firmly entrenched in Ames" before leaving, you got a point...

Re: Bobby Elliott hired to coach defensive backs
More happy with the hire after seeing his full resume, he coached some good K-State teams. To me he will be a good secondary coach but I question the recruiting coordinator position, IMO Ash was way better then him in that respect....

I believe last time Bobby was at ISU he was the Secondary/Special Teams coach and he lef to be the DC at Kansas State. That is not a question of loyalty. If you get that opportunity, you take it.
A lot of people are also bashing him because of his lack of success at SDSU. I didn't follow his time there, was his failure a product of poor coaching or lack of talent? I don't think a lot of guys have been that successfull at SDSU in the past.

Re: Bobby Elliott hired to coach defensive backs
It's a good hire. With all that experience he should be able to teach really good techniques to your secondary. As a KU fan I watched probably the worst d-back coaching in history the last couple of years and I can tell you that position is very important. Seems like a great hire to me.

I expect nothing but the same from him again.
Great hire. True, I remember him taking some kind of medicine shot on the bus after a game in Texas A&M. First class guy BE is.

Re: Bobby Elliott hired to coach defensive backs
This hire is better than I had hoped for. If I remember right our ST went from abysmal to a half step short of outstanding almost overnight last time he came in...
Edit: Before someone chimes in, I know ST coach is not his title now, I just mean it speaks to his ability to coach the most out of guys.

Reason: clarification

Re: Bobby Elliott hired to coach defensive backs
CPR continues to show he is going to have a good staff while he's the coach at ISU. Great hire!
