God I hope we don't get back to either of those eras. Wasn't around for the 70's, obvioiusly, but growing up just outside of Council Bluffs in the 90's it was down- right painful to be an ISU fan.

In the Big 12, schedule cannot be a reason you can't succeed. Every conference schedule is hard. Adding Texas and OU doesn't really matter unless you are hoping to go undefeated.

Hope for one south win (Tech) and take care of business in the North.

I think for sure we can, but i would pre season pick us 3rd behind Nebraska, and then Mizzou.

My thing with Nebraska is that they lose their best player in years, who single handedly kept them in some games, and won some others, and they STILL won't have an offense, unless someone dramatically improves.

I think the North is WIDE open for Nebraska, Mizzou, K-State or ISU to take. We might have one of the best squads in the North, but we have a brutal conference schedule to contend with.

If we had last year's south draw and this year's North home/away, I'd be really, really tempted to pick us. But if the Queen had balls, she'd be King.

HAVE to beat Kansas, Colorado, Texas Tech, K-State, Nebraska, Missouri... I really cant see that happening. I can see us beating the first four and thats about it.

I put credits on winning more than 5 games last year, but I'd have never guessed 7 wins though.

Key to next year: Pass rush. If that materializes, we definitely have a shot. Unfortunately, that's the most difficult aspect of college football... and I'm not holding my breath, but hoping for the best.
