Do we have a legit chance to win the North this year?

We get Nebraska, Kansas, and Mizzou and home and K-State at a neutral site. Historically going at least 5-3 wins the North. Any chance we finally do it this season?

I really doubt it. We'd have to beat Nebraska and hope they aren't as good as everyone says. Mizzou would have to be less than advertised too. I say third if everything goes well.

It would be really tough. I'd be supremely happy with a 4-4 conference record and another trip to a bowl game.

I don't think 2010 is our year. If (when) we make it to a bowl game again, I will consider this season a success and a solid foundation for a great year in 2011.

After Nebraska lost to us last year, they stepped it up and became Nebraska again. I thinks they might be back.

I think we have a chance, but in my opinion not a legit chance. too far to go, too tough of a schedule.

With the exception of a few years since the Big XII was formed nearly every team has had a legitimate chance to win the North. Of course we have a chance but to do so our defense will have to grow up in a hurry.

IMO anything is possible with this coaching staff, I was amazed by the improvement we witnessed last year with basically the same cast of characters. If we are ever going to win the North outright, it will be with coach Rhoades at the helm.

We have to play 5 of the 6 best teams from the conference last season (Texas, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Missouri, and Oklahoma, OSU being the odd team out). Playing Kansas, Colorado, and getting our K-State road game at a neutral site is going to help out, but it's definitely well within the realm of possibility that we only go 3-5 in conference, and no 3-5 team is going to come close to winning it. What's really sad is this team could be much better than last year's team and still have a worse record and miss out on a bowl game.

We absolutely need to beat Nebraska and hope they lose two more times. I just don't see us beating them and then winning the two road games.

If we beat Nebraska, and don't lose the other winnable games, yes.

That's an EXTREMELY tall order though. I think the Nebraska game itself isn't the hardest part, but it's just running the whole season gauntlet and not screwing the pooch in a given game.

LOL umm no. They'll never be the old Nebraska, ever again.

Sure they might win the North every other year and occasionally make a BCS game but the days of them pounding teams into submission is over. They'll never recruit well enough to beat OU/Texas on a regular basis.

My problem is that they have made this come back a few times before and they can't sustain it. I just don't think they will ever be the late 90's Nebraska again. That is a good thing for ISU!
