The Nebraska fan base would love it too because in their insane logic when it comes to Nebraska football it would mean that they instantly become the elite program in the Big 10. Have fun with that Big 10 fans.... you can have the Nebraska fans anytime you want. -
Re: Big 10 going to 4x4 Divisions?
would be nice to ISU thrown in there with Mizzou and Nebraska....I think the NCAA is going to have to step in before 2 of their major conferences are destroyed, Big 12 and Big East.

I'd like to know what Beebe is doing to hold the Big 12 together during all of this posturing.

Re: Big 10 going to 4x4 Divisions?
Why not just have every team in the NCAA join the Big Ten? We would be an unstoppable force as the only conference. The NCAA would have no power over us and just think of all the money the Big Ten Network would bring with every single game on it.
We could break it up into 11 divisions with approx. 10 to 12 teams in each. We could have 6 major divisions that would get most of the money and publicity and then scatter the other teams against minor divisions that nobody really cares about.
We could give the divisions names like the Atlantic Division, Pacific Division, East Division, Southeast Division, Mountain West Division, Western Division, Mid-American Division, USA Division, Sun Division, Ten Division, and Twelve Division. Maybe even a few schools wouldn't even have to be in a division and could just play whoever they want.
Each division could come up with a champion at the end of the year that would be slotted in major bowls against a few other at large teams and the other teams that played well can face a team from another division for the fun of it.
Seriously though this conference realignment stuff is getting a little ridiculous. Conferences should be limited to 12 teams 2 divisions and have a conference championship. If they start making 16 team super-conferences things are just going to get way too jumbled.

I don't have a link and I'm sure I've seen the same articles, but it isn't hard to figure out if a team is willing to "listen" they would be willing to join if an invite would be extended. Especially with all the $$$ the Big Ten can throw at them to join. Have you ever heard someone from ND saying they were willing to listen?

I've heard enough from Osborne and Mizzou recently that makes me think they would go to the Big 10 if invited.
They could just be posturing for a better deal through the Big 12 though.

However, after BYU, Utah, and TCU, there doesn't seem to be an obvious 4th school to add, so maybe we'd be alright.
The most likely landing spot for us if we lose the Big XII looks to be the MWC. If they lose BYU, Utah, and TCU, that isn't attractive at all. Any way you cut it, severe conference realignment will not be a positive thing for ISU.
nope, i agree... if we lose NU and Missou to the Big 10... we are most likely F'd... which would suck... basketball for ISU may remain okay, but football would be horrible... not sure what id do as far as a fan for football.. hopefully it doesnt come to that.... seems our commish is a big duesher.. i would have a big 12 network done last year already... maybe hes getting paid too, and knows its over... maybe hes in with the pac 10 expansion and planning to make bank with them.. who knows... maybe hes in with Texas and making them jump ship and then making bank... either way doesnt seem pretty for ISU... hope im wrong.

ISU won't be included in any Big 10 expansion..

And before you ISU fans get all excited, if Iowa wasn't currently a member of the Big 10, the conference would not be looking to add the Hawkeyes for the same reasons.
Missouri bring the St. Louis TV market and part of the KC market. Nebraska brings its name in football, which does still count for something.

I looked over at HawkeyeNation and they are making fun of the meltdown on this board. The funny thing is, Big 10 would drop them at the drop of a hat if they had to!

But I do think ISU will be ok. I'd just like to see some proactive steps taken from the Big 12's leadership on behalf of holding the Big 12 together.

He is a columnist and is just talking about what he wants, and now all of a sudden fans are freaking out like its actually going to happen.
