isu mentioned on espn in regards to bowl expansion
to potentially include teams with losing records. mentions 6-6 isu vs 6-6 minn as a positive example of why expansion is warranted. Team with losing record could make bowl appearance - ESPN -
Re: isu mentioned on espn in regards to bowl expansion
The whole bowl system is just getting out of hand. But as long as people continue to watch these games and TV contracts are being made...it'll continue to go on like this and because of the money I seriously doubt we will see a playoff in any near future.
With all that being said, i hope mightily that ISU can go 6-6 or better next year and make a bowl -
Re: isu mentioned on espn in regards to bowl expansion
The more the better. More bowls = more teams get bowl money and exposure, resulting in the playing field for all teams being leveled, at least a little.

How much, if any do teams make by going to the lower 1/3-1/4 tier bowl games....cant be much if any. 25 bowls sounds about right to me....anything more and it just gets silly as schools probably lose money on these games unless they show up the day before and leave after the game. The Big 10 got it right for its schools....split the bowl money with the only real difference between the Rose Bowl and the Insight Bowl being how much money each team gets for travel and other misc expenses. Make the Rose Bowl and the second string water boy and maybe his family get to make the trip....go to the Insight Bowl and its the bare bones needed to field a team

Either way, I don't understand why anyone is against more bowl games. If you don't like them, don't watch them. ISU was a beneficiary of "too many bowls" this year. Besides, these bowls have to make money to survive, so if fans are traveling, they are going to cease to exist. They give teams extra practice time, some exposure and a reward for the season and they give fans a mini vacation. I personally watch as many bowls as I can. At that point, the season's almost over and it's 8 months until FB again. So I try to make the best of it.

I'm surprised ESPN is aware that Iowa State has a football program.

How is Dick Vitale not quoted in that entire article?
Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

The whole answer to "why more bowl games" is Econ 101. Supply is meeting demand. More bowls keep popping up because they keep making money for the suppliers. Ames would have one too if they could find a way to profit. Wonder what they would name that bowl?
