I would compromise with FB in Texas and BB in KC.

Playing a football game in 10 degree weather is a significant advantage to a northern team that is used to it.
Playing the basketball tournament in KC gives the North an attendance edge, but that's it.

At that time of year, Dallas is a much better site than Kansas City.
I agree with Pollard in voting for Dallas.

Re: Williams Blog: More catering to the South
I'd still rather have football and bball go in 3 year Cycles
Football: 2 years in Dallas, 1 year in Kansas City
Basketball: 2 years in Kansas City, 1 year in Oklahoma City
Regardless: If ISU has a good team, they will follow them. Period.

The game in Dallas also doesn't bother me. There are plenty of direct flights from DSM there so it isn't hard to get to and the facility is top notch.
I think the cold weather thing is overrated.

I am surprised at an 11-1 vote. I figured ISU, Mizzou, and the Kansas schools would be for rotation. I am also not surprised that Oz is upset about the issue, he was very vocally opposed to adding the Texas schools.

Playing the basketball tournament in KC gives the North an attendance edge, but that's it. This isn't about making it 'fair'. Its an event more akin to a Superbowl. As such they want an attractive event to visit for the game and all related activities. This game likely works better in Dallas, just like the SB works better in Miami than it does in Chicago.
Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving. -
Re: Williams Blog: More catering to the South
If/When ISU makes it to the big 12 title game, I would rather watch it in Dallas than Kansas City in December. For the same reasons, I doubt I would travel to New York City for a bowl game. I think football championship game in Dallas is good, as long as bball tourney is in Kansas City. With a decent team, ISU will make that attendance edge in KC count! I am pretty confident, when the day comes that ISU does make the football title game, cyclones will travel to that as well!

Grate er Great Post....Beebe is gonna have to fine a different Oracle because the SEC is coming after Texas and Oklahoma when the little 11 takes Mizzou and Nebraska.....
Sorry DannyBoy....But you need a new Oracle... -
Re: Williams Blog: More catering to the South
It should be every-other year....like it has been in the past. 3 in a row in TEXAS is not fair. Again...it's all about the money....this is what is wrong with NCAA Athletics.

The FB base is mostly in the south due to the Texas and Oklahoma schools and BB is supported well in the north thanks to the Kansas teams, Mizzou, and ISU. I've never been to the tourney when it was in Dallas or OKC but I am told that it's always at its best when in KC and I believe it based on the numerous times I've been to it in KC.
Playing football in the south at the end of the season makes more sense to me anyways, just as long as they leave the BB in KC as the trade off!

I think the cold weather thing is overrated . Really? 10 degrees, compared to 72 degrees and a North team use to those cold temps, huge advantage. So, how long will we go before Jerry Jones wants the Big 12 bball games in his arena too?
