Noticed this is going from Thursday-Monday. Anyone ever done this before? Not sure about riding the train but it look's like the Chiefs are playing at Denver the same weekend. Sounds like a good football trip.
I haven't heard anything specific about the Grid Club, but I was planning on making the trip out there for the game. I've thought about taking the train--has anyone taken the train out to CO for a game? Is that preferrable to driving? Im looking forward to a game in Boulder. Always heard there's a lot of Cyclone fans out there for the games.
Speak to the GridIron Club, their is a planned trip. If you search here, there was a previous thread that detailed it.
Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'
I went two years ago. Train leaves around 8:00pm Thursday from Osceola and arrives about 9:00am in Denver. Have to walk to the hotel, or taxi I guess. We were on the look out for a bloody mary and the walk felt good after being on the train for 12 hours. Everything was on time this trip, but was told that other times things were really late. The train doesn't leave Sunday until evening, and then you arrive back in Osceola in the morning.
We toured the mint and walked around lower Denver on Friday, and most of Sunday. A bus took us to Boulder for the tailgate and game and then back again. Plenty of stuff to do, tons of bars and restaurants within walking distance.
Not sure I'm going again, but not because it wasn't a good time, just bad timing this time around.

It is a good time. Trip has both members and non-members of the CGC on it. The train was a lot of fun, went two years ago. Can bring on food and drinks, though they have a snack and dinner car. Several options available. See Cyclone Grid Iron Club - Rocky Mountain Cy 2010 for more details. Get there typically early Friday and have the day to do whatever you want. Sat. buses take the group to the stadium/tailgate and back to Denver hotel afterward. Very well organized and worth the price. Fare includes:
• Roundtrip reserved coach seat on the train, Osceola-Denver.
• Luggage transfers between Denver Union Station and the hotel.
• 2 nights in the hotel, including hot breakfast buffet Saturday and Sunday.
• Roundtrip bus transportation to Boulder.
• Game ticket.
The train does leave for Iowa on Sunday, so not sure how that would work with the KC v Denver game...would have to look at the schedules.
Cheers
