I would have to go w/ 40, even if a lot of players just wear it for the one year. I wish they would make this the "replica jersey" number every year.

I haven't really paid attention to this over the last couple of years, but do ISU and Iowa still carry on this tradition?

EDIT: last ISU player from the state of Iowa to wear #40 was Mark Currie (from Odebolt) in the 2007-2008 season. Prior to that was Ross Marsden.

Wasn't Eric Heft #14 also? Not the best player in ISU history but he still means a ton to the university. Plus I believe he still holds the record for most assists in one game (16 I think?)

Former Iowa Hawkeye Chris Street (from Indianola, IA) wore number 40. He was killed in a car accident in 1993, and for years after that, ISU and Iowa gave the #40 to a player from the state of Iowa as a tribute.
