    Yes — Abdul-Aziz/Don Smith ...

I tend to list him as Smith in ISU context — but his official retired jersey says Abdul-Aziz, is that correct?

Was Klay Edwards the first Cyclone to do this?

Hoiberg wore #40 during the 93-94 season. Morgan Wheat switched his number to 40 after the accident.

Yes, this is correct. 35 is gaining momentum in my book (although this is in the "football" forum).

    Thanks.

#35 does seem to be among the frontrunners — but there doesn't seem to be a football standout w/ that number, or at least I'm drawing a blank.

Can anyone think of candidates for that?

I believe that Morgan Wheat switched his number from 00 to 40 during the season when it happened. After that, an Iowan wore #40 for many, many years.

I don't think an Iowa player ever wore the number again. I'm fairly confident they retired his jersey.

Loren Meyer had it his senior year after that correct? And freddy switched back to 32. I wore both 40 and 32 in high school as my tribute to those guys. Looked good on the bench, haha.

Isnt the criteria that you have to have played HS ball in Iowa and usually a senior...correct?

I don't think you have to be a senior, just an Iowa boy.
