Sporting News: Clones taking 5th in the North
Just picked up my copy of the Sporting News' annual college football preview.
It doesn't look like they do record picks but the Sporting News has Iowa State finishing fifth in the North ahead of Kansas State.
In one positive, Paul Rhoads was named the Big 12's "best interview" by the Sporting News.
I'll get more in depth with all of this later this week.

That's BS and you know it Chris. Well..........when I think about it maybe it's not as far as standing but I don't see it happening. We could finish 3-4 in conference and beat three teams in front of us. That would kind of suck.
What I am saying is we could could finish 5th but be the 2nd or 3rd best team in reality.

I see it going this way:
Nebraska
Mizzou
Iowa State
Kansas State
Colorado
Kansas
I just don't see how Kansas isn't going to suck sack after losing the only three players worth a ****.

Well, we could lose three games and not even to North teams so if we lose to Nebraska and Mizzou which could happen, we are all of a sudden 3-5 (I think I said 3-4 earlier which was idiotic) and fall in the standings. I assume they meant standings and not actually how good the team would be. I actually see us going 4-4/5-3 in conference. I think we beat a South team and beat all the North with the exception of Nebby and/or Mizzou.

If we finish 5th chances are we are the 5th best team in the North.

I honestly see ISU going top 3 of the North.

Though, I really don't see us beating a South team, Nebraska or Mizzou.
Honestly think we'll finish third in the North with 5 wins.

I just don't see how Kansas isn't going to suck sack after losing the only three players worth a ****. Agreed. We get KU, MU and NU at home. KSU neutral. CU on the road, but they won't be a world beater.
Like last year, none of the North teams appear to be out of our league. Beating (or losing) to any of them would not surprise me. Wide, wide open and I put our chances of finishing 4-1 vs North teams as reasonable, if nothing more than our schedule advantage against the North teams. Even if we go 0-3 vs the South, should put us no worse than 3rd in North with tie breakers.

If we finish 5th chances are we are the 5th best team in the North. Not really true for the Big 12. I would only say that is fair if you play the same teams. It would be true if you had standings based on In Division only, but not all Big 12 North teams play the same Big 12 South teams each year.

Re: Sporting News: Clones taking 5th in the North
I really don't understand the KU love from all the "experts". It makes no sense. Why is KSU behind KU? Why is KU ahead of ISU? If we played KU in Lawrence, I would understand it a little more. But I have a hard time believing we're going to lose to them in Ames...

Where do they have Iowa @ for next year in the Big 10

The only way to really measure our division with a record is if you throw out everyones South games. So if we were to go 3-2 we would likely be at worst the 4th best in the Big 12 North. Standings are not always accurate in terms of how good the team actually is.
