Here are some of my thoughts on this year's Athlon College football preview, regarding all things Iowa State.

So chris is it easy to say that we have the toughest schedule in the country this year? I mean going to Texas, to oklahoma and to iowa. Then getting nebraska at home, utah at home, NIU at home, I mean those 3 teams could all potentially win their conferences.

wow. some of the writers are just plain... dumb... 12th secondary? i don't think so... IMO
line and backers that i can probably agree with,
Offense i don't agree with so much especially at RB

And IIRC we get Utah and OU after their open week. Who has a tougher schedule than us???

I quit buying preseason magazines quite a while ago. They just don't seem to have the resources any more to get a real feel for any team, especially outside the top 20. I'd put more weight into the average fan's perspective of a team than this.

I'll say thank you for saving me the $6 that I would have paid for that POS. We'll see, but I think that the D will surprise some people. If the staff was really worried about LB and DL, there would have been more JUCOs in the recruiting class.

They exceeded expectations last year and I think that they will again.

What makes them think that Kansas or Colorado will be better than ISU? Both of those teams sucked last year, and I'm not sure they have much returning.

Kansas returns a lot on offense minus the three best offensive players. I guess the prognosticators think Gill is going to give them some kind of spiritual lift? Otherwise it's a total head-scratcher.

I think a lot of CU's success will ride on Rodney "If you want my body and you think I'm sexy" Stewart. I think they tinkered with their offense last year to involve him more. As far as what CU has returning I'm not sure...

CU returns the whole offense, minus the TE. They had a prety good showing on Phil Steele's all conference teams overall.

Maybe it'll mean something....maybe it won't.

They do return a bunch of guys from a 3-9 team that was supposed to win 10 games last year. Just ask Hawkins.

Athlon is a terrible Pre Season Magazine. Save yourself some $$$ and wait for Phille Steele Pre-Season Football Magazine to come out in a couple of weeks.

More Information, Better Information. Most Respected Football Magazine out there.

I think Athlon is expecting to sell some mags to KU fans with the new coach on the way. Some of these magazines give up integrity in order to sell some magazines.

I doubt that Phil has ISU very high in the Big 12, I'm guessing 5th (ahead of KU) or 6th in the North.

A) Tough Schedule
B) Terrible Yards/Game last year
C) +8 on TO (Turnovers = Turn Around)
