Bleacher report takes a swipe at ISU

There's a site gaining a ton of publicity recently Oversigning.com that has a ton of interesting material.

The site is geared towards monitoring and chronicling how Alabama will go from 95 scholarships (from signing day) down to the magic number of 85. Along with whatever dirty practices it will take Mr Saban to reach that goal. You guys remember Mike Marry choosing Ole Miss over ISU even though OM already had 35 scholarships handed out in that class right? Stuff like that takes center stage at this website.

Oversigning did a study to see which programs signed the most recuits from 2006 on, and ISU was 10th. We all know why, but bleacher report decided to take a jab at ISU without doing much homework. BR also claims that Haughton's dismissal is "fishy". I can't wait for the day when ISU can dismiss guys with 18 consecutive starts and not have it cause a severe impact on the team.

Also BR claimed that Jacob Lattimer and Matt Taufoou were academic casualties (and coincidently both are LB's...because we have a ton of depth there right?). Last time I checked they were both on the team with a possibility of playing this fall.

I sent a rather scathing email. Surprisingly, I did get a favorable response back. He was pleased to hear that Rhoads had indicated a smaller class of roughly 20 recruits was on tap for 2011.

KSU is in a similar boat. All those 2 year jucos and when a few don't even make it to campus it keeps that number high every year.

In hindsight, had the Phillip Bates issue occured in 09, it woulda sent huge flaming red flags through the over signing's ranks that ISU was clearly up to something.

I love all of you conspiracy theorists...anyone that has success MUST be cheating. Comical.

Some of these signees become "gray shirts"...the prospect signs a letter of intent in February but doesn't report in the fall and delays entry to college until midyear.

Some of these signees are at great risk of not academically qualifying. The signing school can then be involved in helping them go the JUCO route.

Some of these signees will be moved from athletic scholarship to state based merit scholarships for in-state kids that have good grades. Many of the states in the southeast have implemented these programs to try to keep the best in-state students (not just athletes) in the state for college as opposed to leaving the state.

But you go ahead and just keep thinking that anyone having success is cheating.
