Sorry to rain on anybody's parade but its likely there are more people living in those cities than there are ISU fans total. Des Moines is not a market that can compete with any of those on any level. I think NIU could help pull in the Chicago market. There is still a good chance this game ends up on ESPN 2.

Does anyone know if ESPN GamePlan schedules any games in advance. Usually it seems like their schedule is made the same week as the games are played. They do show ISU a decent amount of times though.

Re: Williams Blog: NIU opener deserves TV attention
I don't like Indy, but railing about their "matchup"" with Towson being on the Big 10 Network is absolutely asinine and foolish.
In what reality, on what planet, would a network owned by the Big 10 conference show a Big 12 vs MAC game? When ESPN grabbed the Minny game, the Big 10 Network, it made it possible for the B10 confernce to make sure all three games played that night would get television coverage in some form.
Rail on the Minny/MTSU game all you want, but the B10 was smart when they started their own network. Might be time for the B12 to follow suit.

Memphis is a much larger population base therefore more tv sets which means advertisers have a greater opportunity to get there product pumped. It doesnt matter what is a better game to watch, what matters is the opportunity to have more people watch. If you are an advertiser do you want your product pumped in the Des Moines market or Minneapolis? Unfortunately Minneapolis and Memphis combined probably have more tv sets than we do fans.

Middle Tennessee is in Murfreesboro, just outside of Nashville. It's in the Nashville metroplex (nearly 2,000,000 people).
We'll carry a good portion of those sets. The only time people in Memphis watch us is when we're destroying the University of Memphis football team.
This game is being carried by ESPNU through the Sun Belt's TV agreement, and is being carried more for MT than Minnesota. We'll be one of the top non-AQ teams in the country this year and have one of the best players in the country (Dwight Dasher).
